Oh God My Eyes! [AKA what is up with my wavesets?]

Postby Tweek » Mon Apr 09, 2012 7:03 pm

Working on a D'ni area and I'm trying to get my waveset to look like the one used at the Ferry Terminal. For some reason my waveset is coming out super bright and lacks any opacity.

Image

Any ideas? I'm using the same waveset coding I used for other areas which worked just fine.

Code: Select all
waterpool:
    type: waveset
    visual:
        waveset:
           geostate:
                maxlen: 6.25
                minlen: 6.0
                ampoverlen: 0.001
                chop: 0.0
                angledev: 1
            envradius: 100
            depthrange:
                opac:
                    start: 0
                    end: 0.5

Tweek!! what did you put in those pellets. Holy sheep dip the algae must be having a field day.

Now all you hafta do now is figure out what you did, add a variable to control the brightness and somehow wire it in to the lake meter and the number of pellets dropped. Budda bing.

Why waist a good error

i think you gave the waveset the default grey material.
Give it a black or near to black material, give a bottom layer beneath the waveset a color or pattern you want it to look like ( a plane with a single face will do)
Those wonderfull Worlds are called " Ages" , because that is what it takes to build one.

No I made the material a dark orange/brown color. But I will try and put something under it.

The opacity end value should probably be higher. 0.5 is for shallow wavesets.

Ah ok will give that a try as well. To be honest I have a little understanding on what all the individual values do. The tutorial (whilst helpful) doesn't really go into that.
