Welcome to The Deep Island Shard!

Postby diafero » Mon Aug 23, 2010 6:05 am

The Deep Island is a public Alcugs Shard set up with all the fan-ages, the latest Offline KI and the MOUL ages, ready to be explored by you with your friends! If you bought the original games, you can also visit ages from Myst V Crowthistle, Hex Isle and MagiQuest. All you need to log in is an account at the Guild of Writers forum - the same login is also valid for the Shard.

To get started, set up a Deep Island client. If you want to play the ages from one of the other Cyan games online, some manual steps are required.

Thanks to everyone who supported me with this idea, Hoikas for integrating the Guild of Writers user database, Almlys for the Alcugs server, all the people contributing (in)directly to Alcugs and the Offline KI, the Drizzle team and of course to Old Wolle for paying the server this Shard runs on :)

Well, hello there new shard! :)
Is this shard intended to become the 'official' GoW shard?

The Shard is obviously tied to the Guild of Writers, since it's using its accounts as login, and it has a dedicated subforum here. Whether that makes it "official"... that is hard to tell at the GoW ;-)

By "clean installation", do you mean an installation that hasn't had Drizzle used on it?
If I had a signature, this is where it would be...

Yes, Drizzle-only patched installations should be fine. The dataserver will do some cleanup then.
If you experience any issues though, better re-try a clean installation.

So now we have two public Shards, you guys might start a trend here
The Optimist see's the glass half full, The Pessimist see's the glass half empty.
Its the Realist who see's the glass is half full with air, half full with water

I see your attempts in the log files... each time you tried a different name (like JKla, jkla, etc.), it says
(2010:09:05-07:55:40.210155)[0] CGAS error message: User not found

And when you used J'Kla, it says
(2010:09:05-08:03:45.244209)[0] CGAS error message: Password is wrong

However, I do not see anyone else having a ' in the name, so maybe that is indeed the problem. Before I do any further debugging, could you please triple-check that the password is really correct? Because, obviously, the username gets transferred correctly and is found in the database by the server.
