A Pic
It's been a while since I last visited here. Just thought I'd share a matte painting/3D still I made recently in my spare time at my course The foreground is done in 3D (Maya), and the background terrain and sky was all painted in photoshop. The place itself was heavily inspired by Uru and Myst V ...

Re: Photoshop CS3/4 Extended 3D
Very true that. I do most of my texturing by using the 3D paint tool (in this case in Maya, but I think Blender will have something similar) to paint guides on the object, then take a UV snapshot and use the two as guides for texture painting in Photoshop. It's worked pretty well so far

Re: Photoshop CS3/4 Extended 3D
My experience with CS4 3D tools is limited to one occasion where it ate all my memory and crashed when I tried to paint onto a 3D model (It wasn't excessively complicated either). Also the controls were a pain to use. Although I might have been doing it wrong so I wouldn't just take my word for it ...

Re: Blender on Windows 7
Try disabling the aero effects and stuff when using Blender (or any 3D app) - those things eat memory for breakfast
I'm using Maya on Windows 7 and it's generally ok (although the school computer I'm using does have an i5 processor)

Re: Is it?
Hi
It's true, I barely post anymore. Mainly its due to me being busy with study in 3D and the projects associated with that. I can't speak for Kato though, but I'd say SftSoK is long since dead. We haven't done anything significant on it in years really. It went through many cycles of inactivity ...

Re: Japanese Garden
I hear what you say there. To be honest I was in a hurry to submit it for the DAWN contest. I'm working on texturing it properly on and off, but I have been very busy. Plus I'm working on something new which should be cool when it's done

Re: NOT The End
I have tried, tried and tried again with this thing. I was really keen and tried getting it off the ground more than once, only to have my enthusiasm met with indifference. I am the one who started 90% of the conversations around this project, the one who pushed new ideas and concepts. Other people ...

Re: The End
I don't know. I've tried getting in contact with kato but he won't respond to any of my messages. I've given up trying to be honest. I'm too busy now myself anyway.

Re: The End
Well... no replies - I'm taking this as a general lack of interest in keeping this thing going in any form. I'm done. I won't bother myself with this project any more. As far as I'm concerned it is dead now, and has been for some time. Maybe this forum should just be closed and archived? I'm no ...
