Re: Our Ages and the Guild of Archivists

There is much wisdom in this, Robert ReBar.
Thanks for encouraging the debate.

It is a matter of The Categories, and the Architists are specialists at this sort of thing. Problem is, the Problem of the Categories is never solved. Alahmnat wisely sees it as needing the give-and-take of much ...

Re: FCAL Proposal Announced at GoMe

The perception of secrecy creates the problem. It tarnishes all the good works that may flow from it.

To answer you, MJ, i feel it would be foolish to carry on with the proposal that, " Panel members will be chosen by the guilds' leadership teams, and will serve initially for a term of a few months ...

Re: FCAL Proposal Announced at GoMe

Paradox, how quickly you forget the weeks of secret meetings. That's the secret veil. Remember now?
Yes, i know Cyan called those shots, but powerful as Cyan is, that does not mean it was the wise decision.
At this point, of course, the alternatives to secret meetings is a moot point (and thus ...

Re: FCAL Proposal Announced at GoMe

Well, the veil of secrecy is gradually lifting.
Now, if we can insert a bit of democracy into the choice of panel members, that might make the playing field at least look a bit level.
And speaking of the way it looks, I call it as it seems from outside the secret veil.
What's your excuse?

Re: FCAL Proposal Announced at GoMe

As i look up, peering through the cigar smoke, i see that i am back online – thanks more to chance than all the hard work of the lovely people in Bombay. And during the loss of my internet, I see that the GoMa has done an endrun around the GoW.

Nothing unusual about that. It happens in the best ...

Re: Page Dee-Zine

As i put up the message above, i was reminded that here is another example of a well designed page (not entirely faultless, but since criticism seems to be taken so personally, i will leave the faults to your own imagination):
GoW Page layout 1 small.png

EDIT: Hmm. It seems the bottom portion of ...

We are all beneficiaries of good design (to a small extent in the US; whereas Europeans have considerably higher standards of design in most things), but by the same token, we are affected by poor design too. Working to overcome the one by producing more of the other is an ambition worthy of ...

Re: Guilds: a similar look

Justin, to my eye, your urge to pep up the GoMa page is a good intuition. However, I don't think your change in font styles is the the answer. Dot is right, in that your serifed style, “is not as legible as the current design...” Contrarily, your new type face in the logo at the top (moved to ...

Re: New Interview with Rand regarding GOW and Uru's Future

What most of you are saying here discusses GoW participation in both Uru technology and Uru Story – by continuing, adding to, etc., that Story.

Do you really think there is anything in Rand's new revelations that suggests Cyan is happy to turn over its ownership of the Story? -- to GoW or any ...
