Re: We need Representatives!

I finally gave up and applied. Part of it was the responses from my concerns above, part is from recent discussion elsewhere.

If there is a facility for admins to send a mass-email to the registered base, it may be a good idea to do that once (or perhaps again - I don't remember seeing one for this ...

Re: Plans for MOOSE

I've also just registered there (against my annoyance of yet *another* login) and will chime in when accepted.

However, a quick answer to the discussion there: From a conversation I had this past Mysterium, I can safely say that backporting to Linux is near-impossible without a re-write of the ...

Re: SPORE is out, finally

Well, it may now be a moot point since you can get Spore through Steam (as of Friday night).

However I'm unable to determine if that install still has the SecurROM DRM software in it. I would hope not, since Steam is dealing with that problem (and being the DRM), but I could be wrong...

Re: Open Source Uru Plans, the GOW perspective

Another vote for 'don't merge forums.' The simplest solution is to have GoW and/or GoMa forums be the main 'point of contact' for the hairy technical details involved in running a server. Those groups are where the needed technical assistance hang out most anyway; I almost *never* visit the official ...

Re: A serious proposal to Cyan. Can WE get MORE up and running?

For clarity, RealXtend is a spinoff/fork of OpenSimulator (a rebuild-from-scratch of the Second Life simulator code).

I believe OGRE is being used because the other alternative for OpenSim as a whole - ODE - isn't holding up just yet.

That's all I'll say on this subject for now; I'm tracking ...

Re: We need Representatives!

The point about 'need to be available on short notice' keeps me from joining right now. Juggling *way* too many things RL, in particular with work.

Re: Want To Be A MORE Developer?

(I'm not sure if time alone is a useful measure of experience. If I've done something five times in the last five years, does that give me more experience than if I've done something every day for the last two years?)

That's why I basically scrapped the requested list and only specified my ...

Re: Want To Be A MORE Developer?

I am in the same boat as katreeny: I'm interested, but my job in the Financial Sector eats my life at times (especially right now). I also now have a life outside that, which includes exercise via a local MMA school. Oh, and have I mentioned in the past that my hours are 3rd Shift, US/Eastern (7 ...

Re: SPORE is out, finally

Well, after the horrible experience my roommate had with Starforce (uninstalling it removed both the VirtualDrive CD and his REAL one - down to the *driver* level - and disabled them from auto-configuring again!), I'm in no mind to have auto-running software milling about my PC. In particular when I ...

Re: Restructure proposal discussion

Just because you come here and make ages doesn't mean you care about XYZ Proposal.

Same goes for those who care about the future of Uru in general, regardless of their ability to participate in Writing/UCC. Though I do admit that this type of person may be problematic to fit in under 'Rep' or ...
