Re: I can't get my head around Blender.
Okay, I'm getting a bit more practice with this thing, but I did some research and found a script that imports Terragen terrains into Blender. (Yay! I love Terragen.) That, in turn, while solving one problem for me created a bigger one. Is there an easy way to lower the vertice count? The Terragen ...

Re: I can't get my head around Blender.
With Blender, the key is: Persistence, Persistence, Persistence .
It took me a year on and off... And even now my skills aren't something to be praised...
What's the theorem about programmers and modeling? "If one is a great programmer, then one cannot model worth fæces."
I know what you mean ...

Re: I can't get my head around Blender.
Hey, thanks for all the encouraging words guys! I'm gonna keep fighting this thing til I get it get right.
And thanks for all the links too! I'll bookmark everything and hopefully after a while I'll get as comfortable with Blender as I am with Moray.

Re: I can't get my head around Blender.
Yes, I agree. It's definitely the interface I'm having issues with. After I wrote this entry I went to show my daughter (who uses Bryce 5 mostly) what I know so far and I was surprised at what all I did learn in the past couple of days. I think I'm just falling down when things get more complicated ...

Re: I can't get my head around Blender.
Whew! Well, I'm glad I'm not alone!
Half the battle for me is that I can't find anything. If the particular tutorial says "to add X thing" I'm looking everywhere for the X button but what it really turns out to be is the W and the Y and Z buttons to get to the X button. Ugh. The dust mites and ...

I can't get my head around Blender.
I used Moray (with Povray) for, gosh, maybe eight or nine years and holy cow I'm having tremendous difficulty in Blender. I wish I could export from Moray to Blender but that just doesn't work I'm told. Is there an easy tutorial or two to start small? I mean, I have made a surface and I have ...

Re: Exploring MO:UL Offline
Okay... I think I know what I did wrong. I'm gonna go try to get back in there again. Thanks!
Nope... Minkata doesn't work for me right now, but I'll mess around with it more later. I link in, but it's black. I can see a light far away, it looks like the light is coming up from one of the craters ...

Re: Exploring MO:UL Offline
This may not be the right thread to ask and if so I apologize in advance, but I've got everything installed and I've used Andy's Nexus (wow! It's so cool, thanks for making that!) but I have three issues.... One, Minkata doesn't work and I'm assuming that's because of the daytime/nighttime thing ...

Re: Easy Music Software
It is a little confusing at first. Yes, Savihost is a VST plugin host. You put a copy of Savihost in the folder for each VST plugin, then you rename it the same as the dll file in that folder. Then you can open the renamed file and it's a virtual synth using the VST plugin. I know about VSThost, but ...

Re: Easy Music Software
I started making music with nothing but freeware in 2000.
The easiest way to get fun and cool synth sounds is to use a program called Savihost and download some of the hundreds of free VST synths available. I have a midi keyboard, but it's not required. You can use your computer keyboard or simply ...
