If you look for it, there are some plug-ins for blender that generate paper-craft models from 3d files.
They work best with low-poly models, though.

Re: Different set of building tools
Update.
My grades in school just took a major drop, so I'm gonna have to postpone the tutorials till I get them back up.

Re: Breldur, my new age
Dude! That looks pro.
Texturing-very nice
Lighting looks good, sets the mood.
Looks like you're setting the benchmark for fan-built ages.

Re: Different set of building tools
Yes, the free version has the export function, but it's changed a bit since the tutorial above.
All you need to do now is go file>export>3d model>Collada. No need to mess with the zipped folders.
I'll have a tutorial for using Sketchup posted by the end of next week.

Re: Different set of building tools
For starters, I'd recommend downloading and going through this tutorial file: m
It will walk you through the basics better than I could using pictures. I'll start working on a tutorial for more advanced modeling and a little bit of texturing sometime before next week.
After the first tutorial, if ...

Re: Z-Buffer (?) Problems
The red cube and the white are two completely different objects.
I realize my wording can be funny at times, but the problems I'm having occurred at step "2.1.3 Texturing" of this tutorial: http://www.guildofwriters.com/wiki/Planting_Some_Grass
I'll try what you recommended in the above post. Thanks.

Re: Different set of building tools

http://sketchup.google.com/download/
The link on the BIG BLUE BUTTON is the professional version, and costs a fair bit of money, but underneath it is a blue hyper-link, it's free and works just as well as the Pro Version.
Sooo... Shall I write some tutorials, then?

NOTE: The author's first language is Spanish, so try to overlook the grammar.
For anyone wanting to model better buildings, I recommend looking into this. the texturing system is easier in Sketchup than Blender, as far as in-organic creations go.

Re: Z-Buffer (?) Problems
Sorry to hijack the thread, but still no cake.
Zuri, not a problem, you seem to have similar problems to me anyway.
I'll try flipping faces for the textures.
I've also encountered a problem with a new age, and it's definitely the Z-Buffer again. I'm not at my good computer, but here's a rough ...

Z-Buffer (?) Problems
I'm having problems viewing some objects once my Age is inside URU.
I have a "floating island" thing going on, and I have the surface and the Stalactite (which ever hangs down) as two separate meshes.
I can see the Under-hanging part beautifully, but the surface is missing. The surface is still ...
