Re: New Content??

A lot of people prefer to work alone. That's basically the crux of it. Nothing wrong with it in principle.

Re: New Content??

It's been a while. D:

Yes, the following is off-topic, sorry:

Funny that I chose to check up on the Myst community today, I was up until now completely unaware of the drama. I agree with GPNMilano's points. The drama puts the daft stuff I've done in the past into quite a lot of perspective! I ...

Re: new game engine for uru?

Most likely what the Cyan artist in question did to make that texture was to combine a flat sand or sandstone texture with a cracked rock texture (or even an ambient occlusion map) - so it probably wouldn't be all that hard to recreate the Gira rock texture if you can use Photoshop and know the ...

Re: new game engine for uru?

Looks great Andy. I'd tone down the normal map on the metal roof a little though.

Re: 3DS Max 7 vs 3DS Max 8 and beyond

Cheers Andy.

Two things occur to me. One, although this might require a bit of Chogon's time, couldn't he just add in Blender+PyPRP2 into the build process? As in somebody submits a Blender Age, Chogon starts building the game and those Blender Ages are built using Blender like - I'd assume - Max ...

Re: 3DS Max 7 vs 3DS Max 8 and beyond

Ah, that wasn't the point I'm making. Cyan's build machine uses Max 7, and their way of updating MOULa requires rebuilding the game every time they do an update. Fingers crossed that Cyan finally upgrade to a modern version if that tie-in game to the Myst Movie goes ahead. At this point, Max 7 is a ...

Re: 3DS Max 7 vs 3DS Max 8 and beyond

Simply, Max 8 is a far better version of Max than Max 7. You've got Pelt Mapping for one, which is an invaluable tool for lazy texturing! BUT until Cyan upgrades their build system, you should keep a focus on Max 7 if you want so see your age on MOULa. Other fan shards are fine with whatever version.

Re: Community Nexus

Actually, me and Fuchida were considering contacting OpenURU's Project OSCAR. I know everyone is currently mad at OpenURU because of how their handling things, I think we should give them a chance.

Don't mind me, just clarifying - other than OU being nice enough to lend OSCAR a subforum on ...

Re: PyPRP and behavior of lamps applied to objects

Max and the PlasmaMax plugin have a few tricks for regulating lights - firstly, you can simply tell the Max light in question to only light (and cast shadows) onto certain objects, or to exclude certain objects from its light. You can also place everything in a certain area into a certain page file ...
