You should really test in the engine version you're targeting. A single-player version of the CWE codebase will be available (eventually), as well as a variety of options for setting up servers for testing.
That's a good point. To be honest, I didn't know that the CWE folks were working on a ...

That's good news - I was a bit curious how this was going to work out. It sounds like we'll be able to design and test ages in Uru:CC and then port them to CWE with minimal effort when the time comes.

Re: Open Source Uru Plans, the GOW perspective
There seems to be a misperception concerning the US laws in force right now.
COPA was struck down by a district judge in 2007, the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the decision in 2008, and the US Government was enjoined from enforcing the law.
On the other hand, COPPA is still in force. It ...

Re: Uru is OURS
At the core of this, there has to be some sort of central organizing force. The surest route to failure is to allow anarchy to take root. You'll wind up with tons of different independent projects that don't cooperate, you'll have tons of different places you would have to go to find out when new ...

Re: Uru is OURS
There are a lot of details that need hammered out here, and I don't think the chaos of the numerous different forums, each with numerous different threads, is going to cut it.
What would be more helpful is a series of live online chats. The first would obviously be some serious Q&A with the ...

For noob clarification purposes, what's the client-side plan here?

Re: What about a texture exchange server?
By the time it's discovered that leechers have become a problem, the money is already spent. (Or, it is too late for the pebbles to vote, or something like that. ) I'm happy to contribute financially to a texture server, but I'd somewhat less happy if my contribution got eaten up by some jerk who ...

Re: What about a texture exchange server?
Trylon's got a good point there. People who are specifically interested in Age building will know what's behind the login wall already (at least in a general sense). We don't really need a bunch of people leeching textures when they have no intention of contributing to MORE, so a little obfuscation ...

Re: What about a texture exchange server?
Very good points, Belford.
My worry is that a puny thumbnail won't be enough to show people what a texture is about, and a moderate-size thumbnail will be big enough that people may try to hotlink it. The thumbnails (either an actual reduced-size version of the image, or a rendered "what this ...
