Re: What about a texture exchange server?

With the latest news from Cyan, the license they use for the game source should be an option as well, at least assuming they choose to use a real FOSS license and not make up a highly restrictive one. Assuming they go the route of GPL or some such, it might be nice to include that license as an ...

Re: What about a texture exchange server?

You can't really have a login system without cookies anyways. I'm constantly annoyed by ebay and amazon's constantly asking me to log-in when i'm sitting on my personal computer that no one else will ever use. I know some subscription type sites will use the .htaccess file to record and restrict ...

Re: What about a texture exchange server?

Looks great so far, but are tags going to be considered at all?

You have to think about the system best suited for narrowing down tens of thousands of images covering all kinds of content down to the perfect few that are needed for the task at hand. For example, say you want to add a brown wall to ...

Re: New FREE 3D program!!

yeah... I plan on getting the 3DS Max stuff ported over to TS as soon as they come out. Truespace is way easier to use than blender. Although they have done some wonderful things with blender.

I downloaded this and am going to give it a try. Even if it can't be used to create ages right now ...

Re: Wave Problems: is it my video card?

Not to totally hijack things, but shader based water such as in plasma and newer engines, has always felt kind of ... fake, compared to older water effects. To me, a game like waverace64 or splashdown, with it's geometry based simulation of water, looked more realistic than the perfectly flat water ...

Re: 3Ds Max Plasma pluggin

It seems to me that if cyan hands out any source code, it will probably come with an NDA and all kinds of restrictions. One of those could prohibit porting their IP to another platform.
I'd have to search for the quote, but I'm quite sure Chogon said we were allowed to use the source to improve ...

Granted I don't think Plasma is a particularly valuable piece of software compared to the big game engines, but ...
