Re: Official-ness

I don't see a mention on this website of this Guild being the official one, nor do I see a mention of this Guild being an unofficial one. So everyone can decide for his own what he thinks of this Guild regarding officialness.

You're being coy. You don't go to any website (cnn.com, mcdonalds.com ...

Re: Official-ness

I don't care what it is called, but let's be clear: Cyan didn't create this site, nor does it explicitly sanction it's activities, so it is *not* official. It can be called "The Guild of Writers" I don't care, but for now, it is merely a fan group, and it should be made very clear what the known ...

Re: Rules for Age Content

Well no, that's not the only thing we have to go on. We also have what grey dragon and Cyan have said to Age Creators since the shard days, and they've never explicitly said we cannot write Ages as "discoveries". When asked about it they'd just say to avoid messing with anything involved in their ...

Re: Official-ness

Right, and I have a feeling that calling this "unofficial" would only confuse people. Let them think that we are official; what's the harm? As Eschaton said, it's not like Cyan is going to say, "Okay, you all aren't allowed to be the Guild of Writers". It doesn't make sense.

That's true, and I ...

Re: Age acknowledgements

I still like the linking-book idea, if only to avoid the cries of "it will distract from the design of the age," but I'm also in favor of the journal at link-in point.

This all depends, or course, on the tools we get. As long as the tools have the ability to place journals, presumably it will be up ...

Re: Rules for Age Content

I like this list, and I think that we are all pretty much in agreement over "toe-stepping," but I have a feeling that Cyan is actually going to strike down a lot of it, because it allows for explorers to "find" already existing ages, when the fan ages are going to be handled (IC) as brand new ages ...

Re: Age acknowledgements

Honestly, I disagree with having credit's in-game anywhere other than the Uru Credit journal.

Firstly, what is the "Uru Credit Journal?" And second, I can't see why you wouldn't want people to be credited in a place that will actually be seen. You can disagree if you want, but please explain your ...

Re: Introduce Yourself

Hello all,

I am The Noble Robot.

I played MYST as a kid on my old Win3.1 computer, but was never a fan. However, my wife (The Noble Robotte) was a huge fan of both Myst and Riven, so one day I bought her Uru:CC. We played it together and I got hooked. We later bought and played through all the ...

Re: Age acknowledgements

I'm not proposing a rule here, but a suggestion: a "credits journal" at the start of an Age. Give the name, the date of release, the date of last update (if changes are made), and credit the people who contributed. I say a journal, rather than a sign or piece of paper, because there's no reason not ...

Re: Official-ness

I would say that no, this is not official in any capacity whatsoever. The only authority which endows this website with any "officialness" is the MOUL forum poll.

The fact that it *does* appear to be official or cyan-approved *is* really irritating to me, but with that said, it's still "the place ...
