So, My install is working, it seems. It changed compatibility to windows 98, which sped things up. It still crashes a lot, and Ghareesen is incompletable (which, if I've read the forums right, is a shard-wide problem) but it appears to be functional, if not very stable.

Seems to be working now....
1) clean install following instructions listed. Don't worry about uninstalling TPOTS.
2) set compatability mode for URU.EXE to WINDOWS 95.
3) be sure to use this as your launcher every time.

time will tell if this is a permanent fix.

Again for fits and giggles, ran a clean install, following all instructions, (except for uninstalling TPOTS, which I cannot do) and then running in safe mode. Tried a re-install, this time skipping steps about naming files, as the DI patcher has files appropriately named. Same issue, same error codes. reboot, cleaned the registry, ditto. renamed files, files regenerated upon update, same error. One at a time I turned comparability mode for uru.exe ...
