What all do I need to start

Postby Daniel K » Thu Jun 11, 2009 3:56 pm

Shorah All
I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't seem to find anything in the search, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but I would like a simple answer. What are all of the tools required for making an age in blended and porting it into uru and provide me with links to them. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Thanks for the link but I can't find the blender scripts folder, is it the same as the Python25 folder as it seems to have the same types of files in it. I'm running a windows machine.
p.s. Are the additional programs, PyYAMIL, PyCrypto, etc suppose to install to the blender folder of to a separate folder.
P.s.s. sorry for all of the questions but I'm a bit new to this stuff.

Daniel:

By default, the Blender scripts folder is in C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts (if you have Windows).

The Python add-ins are supposed to install into the Python 2.5 folder.
Can we rebuild it? Yes, we can - here's how.

and you chose the SECOND installation option during Blenders install .... otherwise the scripts folder will be in a strange place (do a search on your machine to find it) ... I can't tell you exactly where because I did choose the second installation option ...

(the wiki really needs updating about this since the Blender installer was changed)

Would it be a better Idea to just uninstall blender and reinstall it using the second option? Also the programs default create a new Python25 instead of installing into the zipped Python25 folder inside of the blender program data. Do I need to fix this, and if so how?

I believe the Blender installer comes with a stripped version of Python 2.5 but you need to do a full Python 2.5 install into its own folder. Blender will be able to find and use it.
