Fan made ages? I think not!

Postby Lynnutte » Tue Feb 19, 2008 7:10 pm

Before anyone crucifies me, hear me out. For me, and from what I've read for a lot of people, anything labeled with the name "Fan fiction" or "fan made" has a derogatory connotation. Wether it is rightly deserved or not. I therefor propse changing ages not written by Cyan from "fan made ages", to "newly written ages" (NWA for short). For me, and maybe for others, this will gives these ages the legitimacy they deserve, and hopefully give the writers the recognition their hard work deserves.

Just pointing out the obvious:

They are called Fan or Explorer made Ages, to give them the distiction that they DO NOT have anything to do with Cyan.

Calling them NWA's would simply add confusion. Newly Written by whom?

So far, every one that I know that has tried them, has loved them, or been very impressed.

Those that turn their nose up at our Ages before even giving them a try, or reading reviews.........no great loss in my opinion.

Lynnutte got a point though. "Fan made" brings to mind countless Star Trek and Star Wars novelettes of dubious quality.
I don't like NWA though.
Explorer Ages? Explorer-made Ages?

I'm with Lynutte and Chacal on this one.

Explorer-ages//Explorer-written-ages sounds good to me,

I'm new here so don't throw anything at me.
My suggestion: Explorer-Created-Ages: ECrA
Take care

To go with the IC notion of writing links to ages instead of creating them, I don't like the term Explorer Created Ages.

I'd still want the more neutral "Explorer Written Ages" (EWA)
Though, "Human Written Ages" would be fine with me as well.
