Where to start...?

Postby worldwaffle » Thu Mar 18, 2010 8:05 pm

Before anything else, I'd like to say hello to everyone. I go by waffledude on the Myst Online forum, just because 'worldwaffle' was taken. I can barely model anything in Blender, but I can program/script. I know C# (my favorite), C, Lua, [some] Python, Java, Javascript, and markup languages (XHTML, CSS, Html...)

So I guess I'm here to help program ages. *But since the python (can you use another language?) will be in Blender, I'll obviously need to learn more in Blender than knowing how to extrude, work with nurbs, what a mesh is, and how to color an object ;)
----

But I have some questions:

How do I play fan-created ages now since Uru isn't open sourced yet?

*I should learn more about Blender, right?

Welcome.
You can play fan Ages by downloading Drizzle, then use it for installing the off-line KI and whatever Age you want from the list in Drizzle. There is a lot of them.

Wow, seeing so many programmers coming on board makes me much less intimidated about all the animations and puzzles I want for Eder Bahrehltahn. Welcome Worldwaffle! :)

I've just downloaded drizzle, but when I specify my Uru file (I don't have the Cd made by ubisoft...), it gives me an error: "Complete Chronicles/Path of the Shell file is not found"

Help?

Hi Worldwaffle! You'll need URU Complete Chronicles to play offline Ages. I'm not 100% certain, but I think you need it until you install drizzle and the NoCD addon. Hope this helps!

Oh. You can get it pretty cheap on Amazon. Less than $10 maybe. The NoCD addon is downloaded via Drizzle.

Not sure about that one. Hopefully Dustin or one of the other Wizards will see this thread and confirm one way or the other. All I can say for sure is that you can't play them until you have CC installed. :D Sorry!
