GoW Shard?

Postby nathan2055 » Fri May 13, 2011 12:23 pm

I keep hearing stuff about a "GoW Shard" being released. What is this, and how will it work?

It will be a MOUL shard, running DirtSand and our latest CWE version.

It will include all of Cyan's ages, plus a few high-quality MOUL-compatible fan ages. In the long run we probably won'tpull in every moul-compatible age - there's a lot to be said for having the official GoW shard just showcase the best of the best. If there's a strong push from the guild members to include a wider selection of ages that policy is of course flexible, but I expect there will be other shards up that include everything.

We're still crazy busy fixing bugs before the release, which is why we don't have an exact date yet. Soon, though.

I can't wait to see what you have brewed up, will The GoW Shard include Chacal and Sculp's modifications to Aegura and Bevin???

For now it's vanilla. We have some stuff that's in progress for various modified areas.

Does DirtSand require POTS? I couldn't figure that out from the website.

DIRTSand requires the GoW's fork of the MOUL engine. It's a MOUL server, not a POTS one.

When someone copies the original code and then modifies it, it is called a "fork", within a fork you can have several "branches". The GoW/H'uru repository on Github is the fork, for the GoW Server you need the "Gowserver" branch of all the forks(Plasma and Moulscripts actually).
Code: Select all
long longestTimeWithoutPlayingMoula = (new Date()) - (new Date(2014, 9, 26));

Umm... Actually, if I'm right... Dirtsand only requires a moul compatible client... Not uniquely the GoW Fork.

And for the GoW Server, you'll be able to download a client for it when it is open, you certainly /shouldn't/ be building your own client for it.
