Yeah, I forgot about that. And after a six month hiatus with no new licenses. We've been speculating if this is a sign of bigger things. :D

Well, ahem, yes; but the Newsletter is not all that newsy is it? And isn't Nek'rahm right –Andy's 'FCA "licenses" from Cyan' surely qualifies as first class news.

But while that is only one of several matters to be considered, it does bring the point out in the open.

It seems there are two ways of going about informing others of the wonderful works at GoW: 1) We (you guys, really; i have nothing to do with it – except sit here with a pained expression at the things that don't go as i feel they should) – which is to say, you may keep on at this rather accidental pace of revelation and let things leak out as they may (the problem here is that this rather leaves it up to Lynnutte (or whomever) to ferret out what they see fit to publish);

or 2) Paradox (who has more on his several plates than a kid at Christmas dinner) can enlist the aid of someone who has a newsy nose and who also understands the arcane stuff you all discuss -- and further, who can not only work with Paradox on what would be good for everyone to hear but can say it in understandable English.

I hope this will not going to be another burial of good information, like reporting on the Journals.

The way I view it, the GoW newsletter is probably of interest to a certain audience... while the GoMe hopes that its newsletter is of interest to a wider audience. From that perspective, I guess what we'd really like to know is what news in the GoW would be of interest to the wider community? (And Lynnutte can feel free to correct me if I have misstated her intent. :))

From what I've seen of Zephyr Cove, that... possibly along with Robert's completed area in Pahts... might be particularly noteworthy items. I am not certain if contest winners are going to be of interest to anyone who isn't already reading the GoW newsletter. Specific FCA licensees might not be appropriate for the full community... but mentioning that licenses are being granted after a 6-month hiatus is something that I think would catch _every_ groups' attention.

Time. That has a lot to do with it. Many here will tell you that they just don't have the time to keep track of everything.

Paradox isn't just PR, but also on the tool development team too.

There is no one person here who's job it is to just collect information (either news worthy or not) to have on hand (now over at the Maintainers we'd have a line of people willing to do that job).

Lynnutte may have to do some "Investigative Reporting" in that read through the forum, try to find things that might be of news worthy to mention and report.

That takes time too! :D So asking questions can help also. Like:

"What new Ages have been released? Where can I find info on them?"
"What new projects are the GoW working on? Which ones are completed?"

Things like that of course.
"I'm still trying to find the plKey for Crud!"

Or if Cyan does get the green light from GameTap/Turner, to have fan ages ready to go in the pipeline ready to put online, or to be reviewed by the other Guilds. So yes, I see the recent FCA approvals as definitely a positive sign :)

I highly doubt they would use Blender Ages though ;)

Unless they, with the permission of us, took the best Ages and reformed them with their own software, they'd look like truly Cyan Quality Ages.

THAT'D be cool.

I think activity on the RAD contest is news. "We have a winner, this is what it looks like" (with screenshots). Everybody likes new content. People in the wider Uru community won't be set up to run UAM, but they'll look at screenshots.

Even better if they can read the discussion of what the judges liked, what they didn't, what could be improved, etc.

Oh, and for the non-winners as well. While I have my PR hat on.
