Well, I like the idea of a home-page. :)
I think lots of other people like the idea as well.

No need to contact anyone. The webmasters are already likely reading this topic. Just ask them right here. If there is no response I can have a talk with a few of them, see what they think.

"Welcome

Here at the Guild of Writers we explore the many joys of writing ages.

If you want to get started go here: <put in noobie-guide href>

If you have any questions please feel free to post (contact us?) on the forums (href to forums).

We hope you will share the same satisfaction and pleasure that we get from age building.

Ok, it is a little off.

Feel free to take bits of it if you have better ideas.

I was actually thinking of something a bit more wordy and descriptive, but that is a good outline. Anyone else wanna give it a shot? I could write up some stuff as well when I have time.

BTW, Lon, we don't need you to contact the "webmasters" for us, they read the forums too. If they want to do this then they will let us know. They may be more encouraged to do this stuff if people helped out with their own ideas and additions. ;)

Well, Jamey had a good Idea for another link at the top: an age update section: it would say whenever an age was updated, or if there is a new age that hasn't been posted on ULM, that people might like.

and re-establishing what I said before, other links at the top could be
-Forum (of course)
-Wiki
-Age screenshots and updates on age projects
-A general news section that anyone can post news in
-links to other guild sites

Haha I was right about to start a thread on that topic! :P
Lately many Ages have been added or updated and I missed most of them. (Sonavio, Prad, Maw, Fens, Zephyr cove, Tunneldemo etc). That's because we have plenty of subforums here and no central place to announce such things.

One easy way to fix this would be to have an informative sticky topic where only posts about new or updated Ages are written by they respective authors. (Comments would have to go in the various dedicated threads for which a link should be provided with each new posts.)

This could also go on the homepage, but I think the homepage doesn't show the reply to topics. So in order to show an update homepage it'd require to create a new 'announcement' thread and only admins can do that. The forum seems like a more practical solution for now.

Well, I think it'd be better for a homepage, because then the creator of the age could just post there, and not just people posting on their thread would see it. Somehow I don't like the Idea of updated threads... I dunno... but... waht do you mean "Fens"? is this an age I havn't heard of :O see, this is why we need a news page, many of us aren't aware of certain things on this forum, for example, RAD competitions, the only way someone would know about those, is if they looked at the topic, and not everyone looks at every single topic... so rather than having to check a bunch of threads for something new, it'd be put all in one place!

Anyone think that this would be a good Idea? I really think it would make finding things much easier.

I'm confused. What's "this" again?

We still need Kato's input on it, and he appears to still be MIA

"This" is adding a GoW homepage, with an introduction, and links to: News, Age projects, new ages added to GoW, Wiki, forum etc. at the top. This would make finding what you want much easier, and if someone needed help for their age, they could just post on the announcements/news section of the site, and much more people would see it.
