Sounds cool! I'm interested to participate as a modeller.

I would like to participate and submit a concept piece. This is a brilliant idea by the way.

So first there is one contest for the artists alone. This results in one winning piece of art. Then there is another contest, in which 3d modelers make their own version of the age depicted in that piece of art. Is that right? Or is it more like any of the art from the first contest can be used in the second one?

The modelers model the winner's art. :)

Since the basic idea of the place in a given age will be the same, judging (at least for the modelers) won't be like comparing apples and oranges. We'll have to figure out to best do the judging.

I'm thinking that the judge pool should be the same for both the 2d and 3d leg of the contest. This is because the judges, when they're judging the 2d art will, hopefully, saturate themselves in the general feeling of a pictured place. In judging the 3d work, loyalty to the original feel of a place should be as important as good 3d meshes.

On another note: The 3d leg of this contest is partly made to reward a winning 2d artist with 3d-realized adaptations of their work. I believe a lot of frustration for 2d age-writers lies in having a great design and not having it become anything more than a 2d sketch.
Currently getting some ink on my hands over at the Guild Of Ink-Makers (PyPRP2).
