The apparently wide-spread impression, that I have heard about, but never understood, that the Guild of Writers is a hostile environment, is the only reason that I lingered for some time over the "submit" button, before pressing it. I know that I was quite vitriolic and not just to the original poster.
I don't believe I have ever been "that guy" before (the "dick", as Hoikas so succintly put it); I certainly hope not -- at least never before intentionally. (...although I may have been quite outspoken in the early days, when some people pushed for the GoW to have power structures, with chain of command and tiers and other such nonsense.)
You do carry yourself very well, uaOmicron.
...just how "new" are you?
At any rate; I am terribly sorry, but; Yes, I do hold the anonymity against you, even though I sympathise with your situation: "Do X and agitate 50% of the population, don't and make enemies of the other half".
I have just seen too many self-proclaimed "leader" types in my days, the ones who come in with a half-baked "idea" and expect less half-baked people to be their menial tools.
So when an entity pompously comes in, does not properly introduce itself and begins to demand to see portfolios from people who are expected to "just do as they are told" and work for free, albeit using flowery language; I MUST ask: "Oo-kay... Where's YOUR portfolio?"
Too bad one could not separate worlds, pre NDA, and be anonymous in MOUL forum type environments and candid in talent pool ones... There are certainly different standards going on in different types of communities and sub-communities.
I don't think I can judge your screenshots at the moment - I'd have to jump into Uru and do a little side-by-side, but I must say that I am personally not that concerned with detail level in the old material.
(Sometimes higher resolution textures, however well made, can even make things look too harsh and less natural; and, through constrast, highlight deficiencies in other areas.)
I do like the sans-DRC angle. The act of puppeteering somebody else's characters is the most appalling aspect of fan fiction.
Communication... It's a lose/lose game. :)
EDIT: Oh... and I do apologise to the entire guild, if I have reinforced its apparently drab public image. I am sorry for any such concequences, but do not regret.
