Not sure how many others do this, but because the main amount of communication is at the forum, my book marks are to the forums......not the home page.

Same here... I never look at the home page.

Of course, this is usually because the home page isn't very interesting, as it is simply an extension of the forums and basically just shows a "news" post that is never updated.

ya, I bookmarked the forums for that reason exactly, if the homepage was more useful, and looked nicer, alot more people would look at it, rather than just the forums.

As far as I can tell, nobody ever reads the home page, since all links point directly to the forums. Is it worth the time and effort to write content for a page that is never seen by anyone?

That's circular reasoning. The reason people don't visit the home page is because it isn't interesting. Is it therefore a bad idea to make it interesting because nobody will read it? No. If it is made interesting, that should cause people to read it.

The home page wouldn't be for regulars, it would be intended for those who hear about the guild for the first time and follow a link to guildofwriters.com from another site such as MOUL. Most of those users would just want to know what GoW is and what it does.

Agreed.
What could be put to make it interesting? Update about new/updated Ages sounds like the first obvious thing to do. Updates about tools would be the other obvious thing.
What else?

I agree with Chacal, Aloys, etc... here.

Let's make a list of possible Ideas:
1. New/Updated Ages
2. Member News page (people can post on it, asking for help with their age, or something)
3. PyPRP Updates (this includes how to add updates to blender, what the update includes, and links to tutorials on newly added features)
4. Screenshots of Player created ages, to make people excited about age creation, and for inspiration
5. List of all the currently created ages, descriptions, and where to find them (some might not be on ULM)
6. Community library of textures, Models, sounds, etc. (anyone can post a texture, model or sound, for the good of the guild)

I like the idea of having more info about ages. :)

We could have a sort of age directory. It would show ages that have been or are intended to be released. This would include screenshots, descriptions, and the release status of each of the fan ages.
