I agree with what has been said about officialness. I have mixed feelings on many levels about fan creation. Truth is, and has been said already. We live in a me, give me mine now, fast food culture. I know allot of people trust a story line if they feel it's sanctified, hail Mary'd, and dipped three times in the Holy waters of Canon, crucified and buried for three days to see if it will rise again. Hence what use to be fan endevors to contribute to the community, has now become "My Hobby". Meaning, it's something I do in my time, at my pace for my enjoyment with no critiques ,medling, or strong opinions why my idea wont stand the light of day.

While the minor majority sing we are the world, and all hail the community. You'd think theyd be grateful to have any one, of any talent trying to contribute what ever content they can. Alas, they choke out all interested with the beaurocracy and red tape of guild committee approval, polls, etc that go nowhere. JMO I probably wouldn't waste any more time if Cyan did tell me my ideas were crap, instead of waiting for the popular vote of approval from peer fans, and groups.

Like I said I have many feelings on many levels, and should shut up now. I have always felt it's really, "You Are You", only if we say you are.
God created the world in Six days, Uru will take much, much, longer.... Ok, Smack me now. :o

Not 100% sure about the "incident" was at the Guild Fair yesterday as I was not in attendance due to being committed to getting Neolbah released this morning.

The only thing I saw posted (besides something about the GoG), was about the hidden forum over at the GoMa for storylines.

Please note: that hidden forum was requested by Jadawin12, to give him an area to work with others on a storyline, and wanted to keep discussion about it private to avoid spoilers. We were more than pleased to provide such an area, and have done so for others in the past (IE: we have had Age Creators here ask for a private area over at the GoMa forum, to discuss bugs with volunteer inspectors of their Age that they made. Not because they were trying to keep something hidden in a malicious fashion, but simply because they did not want anything spoiled before the release of their Age.).

Why ask for this over at the GoMa? Well, as far as Age Testing goes, that only makes sense. But as far as anything else goes, I can only guess (and I stress that I'm guessing here), and that's because the admins a the GoMa forum have been quicker to respond to someone's request for this (no reflection on Hoikas, everyone has RL to attend to, and he may not have the time to jump on it right away).

If Jadawin12 would rather move his discussion over to here, that's his perogative to do so, and we can take that forum down over there at the GoMa.

As far as "Storylines should only be discussed here at the GoW", I don't know what to say to that other than: If a person wants to create and discuss a storyline, they should be able to do it where ever they want be it here, GoMa, MOUL, or even places like Facebook or MySpace for goodness sakes. It's THEIR project after all.

So again, just to let you all know. The hidden forum area was at a person's request for THEIR project. The GoMa was not in any way trying to move "Storyline Development" from here to there. Nor does the GoMa have any interest in doing so. The GoMa only wants to help people, and if someone requests private space to do some work, we don't see a problem with it.

Andy basically hit the nail on the head there. However I don't plan on taking that forum down, I do however plan to request one over here because of late the Guilds seem rather isolated, so I may have one at the GoMa, GoW maybe even OU. And I plan on taking the ideas from them and sharing them between the Guilds (unless requested otherwise by the idea creator) That way people don't have to go out of their comfort zones the ideas get lots of focus and we actually get some inter-Guild/Group cooperation going on.

I finally got done reading through the Chat Log of the Guild Fair from yesterday.

Please note: Marcus got a few things wrong.

1) The GoMa has ALWAYS had a "Storyline" subforum under our "Projects" part of our forum, and it is open to ALL forum. ANYONE can read it, and any registered user can post in it. No one has to have special permission to access those forums there.

2) There are some "private" forums that are in there, private at the request of people that wanted a space to work at that is not public. Several people here (including the infamous "Whilyam" ) have used this service that we provide in the past and presently.

3) Marcus should have told people that Jadawin12 has an on going storyline project and that if people wanted to help or get involved with it, that they could PM him over at the GoMa (and here).

4) While I agree that "Storylines" can be a great part of the GoW (this is after all a "Writers" Guild), there is nothing keeping anyone for wanting to have their project elsewhere, where ever that maybe.

5) The GoMa has never had, nor any intentions of trying to become the GoW or interfere with the GoW.

6) The tutorials that I write and post over at the GoMa forum are done so because:
a) I firmly believe that information on the subject should not be contained only in one place incase something horrible happens. I have copies of all my tutorials not only at the GoMa forum, but a back up website that I'll put online incase anything were to happen to them. That way the hours and hours of work and information are safe and available to everyone.
b) I have mod and admin control of the GoMa forum (as to others), and this allows me to move and tailor the tutorials easily over there.
c) I HATE Wiki format.
d) I have been asked, and have told people: Yes, absolutely! About making copies of my tutorials and placing them on the GoW Wiki. So far, all anyone wants to do is put a link in, heh.

I apologize for Marcus information at the meeting yesterday being incorrect (I guess I need to start being there at those meetings instead of working on Ages and Tutorials), and for not being able to handle some of the "questions" and "statements" that were thrown at him. I'm sure that he would have presented his information better had he known what was correct and what was incorrect.

I'll make sure I'm at the next meeting.

She told me she was there for only part of it (I don't know what part as I was not there of course), and may have missed what was going on (IE was windowed out). She was during that time, working hard on creating the journal content for me for Neolbah (if you've linked in and looked at it, you'll understand, the journals are VERY long now, heh).

So you'll have to ask her why she didn't correct the information then, or answer the questions.

As Andy said, I was NOT there the whole time. I crashed early on and was not able to get back in for another hour.

I missed the whole of Marcus's presentation, and only managed to get back in towards the end.

While I'm here, I'd like to make a practical suggestion for future all-guilds meetings: that each representative gets 5 minutes to make a presentation about their guild or group without interruption, then questions are taken from the floor. That way speakers get a fair chance to get across the points they wish to make, and questions can still be raised and answered.

Yeah, GoW just happens to be the most active place, but people can run their stories wherever they like. I don't consider myself a member here, though I do check and post here frequently, simply because of how active it is.

I'll second that. Open free-for-all discussion isn't very practical.
Presentation+questions was how we did during the GT days, and it worked well.
