Introduce Yourself

General debates and discussion about the Guild of Writers and Age creation

That is actually explained in the wiki, at http://www.guildofwriters.org/wiki/Uru: ... Chronicles. I would appreciate any hints how we could make this more explicit,so newcomers are less confused.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

I read that Wiki, but it wasn't exactly clear that for purposes of the offline content having the Uru:ABM with the expansion packs separate was the same as having the complete game released as CC. Perhaps just a line that says that having the original Uru: Ages Beyond Myst with the two expansion packs (To D'ni and The Path of the Shell) is the same as having Complete Chronicles. But what if someone doesn't have the expansion packs, just ABM?

Okay, I added such a node. Is it clearer now?

If you have just Uru:ABM, most of the tools here will not work. Most notably, neither Drizzle nor the Offline KI support ABM. So, you should really get TPOTS if you want to play fan-ages offline or on an Alcugs Shard.
It's already enough of a hassle that we have two separated versions of Uru people have to choose between (TPOTS/CC vs. MOUL), so really there is no point in supporting ABM.

Shorah, I'm Lyrositor.
My Myst-mania started in March 2011 when I consecutively played all the first four Myst games (still waiting for Myst V, don't have much time right now though). I wasn't overly active in the community until a few weeks/months ago (I had started a website project called Rezeero a while back, but it's been dormant ever since due to a lack of interest) when I started trying to set up my own Shard using MOSS and H'uru's CWE. After the success of this endeavor, I joined the Guild of Messengers as a French Translator, translating The Cavern Post #2 in the process as well as all the recent news items to French, before proceeding to propose a tweaking of the GoMe's current style to make it slightly more refined. A few days ago, I also started revamping the GoW's wiki instructions on my private wiki. Finally, I'm hosting every Saturday some Q&A sessions on MO:ULa about setting up a Shard in OpenUru.org's Hood using MOSS and H'uru CWE.

I've been on MO:ULa, Gehn, Minkata, TOC, Deep Island and Lyros Shard (my own shard). I'm not an experienced programmer, so not much is special on Lyros Shard.

My skills include PHP programming, HTML/CSS, a bit of Python and a smattering of C++ and Java. My main preoccupation right now is school, followed by Uru.

Bonjour Lyrositor,

you should put a post on the thread that talks about the internal client on this forum stating you updated it to the current built (6). You'll get more interest here than on MOULa official forum. It's really nice of you to have take time to update it since Branan can't (he is busy with Gehn) but I think the level of "flyers", of "chicken without head runners" and of "wall kissers" in public city on MOULa will arise quite fast since you release this new build.

You should also mention (even thought the "chicken without head runners" above won't have the intellectual abilities to understand it   ) that this internal client should ONLY be used in private ages instances or in fun house when it's public!

-------

You may wonder what is a "chicken without head runner"? Go in a farm, kill a chicken cutting is head off and let the body on the loose. After that, go in public Ae'gura, look at those "imbeciles" on fly mode, you'll see exactly the same thing. The "less imbeciles", I call them the "wall kissers". Go in Jerusalem to see a good comparison. Both will infect the public Ae'gura anyway!!!

Hi, I'm Jakob, but I often go by the name of Nejkatt (it's a long story). I can't remember how long ago i first came in contact with the Myst franchise, but i played it when i was quite young with a neighbor of mine and I've been playing it periodically ever since. A while ago i came in contact with MOUL and the possibility of writing your own ages, something that really got my ideas flowing.

I haven't got that much of experience in modeling but i do a lot of writing (I'm currently in the early stages of a MOUL project so make sure to check it out) and programming in my spare time. I think that's it.

Hello, i am Kyle N'orth and i first began my Myst journey back in '93 when the first game was released.
I know the whole D'ni alphabet along with the colors and numbers. I am interested in writing and the creation of new ages. I am into the whole game creation type thing, and am willing to learn whatever you are teaching.
Thank you,
Kyle N'orth

Hello, guys.

I am Khwarizmi, I have been playing Uru since 2009, and I got fascinated by the idea of it becoming Open Source. I can program a few things, but I never tried my hand in games.

The Gehn shard is spectacular, I love what you guys did with The Watcher's Pub.

Welcome Sky.
On the Deep Island Shard, you will find many fan Ages created for Uru:CC. On the Gehn Shard, you will find the latest open-source fixes, as well as two Ages already available on Deep Island, but converted for MO:UL.
