Just curious

I've always kind of wondered what the male to female ratio is around here. I know there are more guys than there are girls, but not how many.

And if you feel like it list what section your talents are focused on (builder, artist, storyteller, etc)

Its not important, I'm just curious. *shrug*

Male. Mostly a writer/storyteller, not too bad at aural and visual composition, floundering whenever it gets too technical.

I'm what you would call a hopelessly romantic guy, who was born in the wrong age of humanity. I should have either been born back in the renassaince age, (with swords, shields and bows and arrows, I think I was an archer or ranger in a past life) or sometime in the far future, (like 29th Century future, those of you who have seen Star Trek know what I may be refering to). I'm learning how to do 3D modeling with Blender for the first time, so this is entirely a new world that I am discovering. I consider myself to be an excellent writer and can develop a good story if I have reason to stick to the writing. I have a very creative and imaginative mind, always thoughtful, in more than a million ways. I guess that was a little bit more than you wanted to know, but I guess I will stop there, before I write 50 paragraphs of stuff. lol.

DaVinci.

Hi Kierra
I like your name, Windsong. Sounds native. Lovely tinkle to it.

My experience is with freehand art; the closer i get to a pc the more difficult it becomes; but as you know, Jennifer is now offering us lessons. Maybe i learn?? At least, i struggle.

By the way, i see you live West of Cyan. I used to live in Portland, so i know what its like East of the Cascades and South of the Columbia: Highland desert. But West? That's pretty deep stuff out there. You must live with the seals? Take lots of deep breaths. LOL

Hey Kierra!

Well, female here, obviously. :D I'd say my talents are more in the artistic side. I'm learning Blender, its loads of fun. I don't do freehand style art well, but I have an eye for color, design, I'm full of creativity, things like that. I'm also a techie. My boyfriend and I can spend hours debating the best way to program something, or spend hours walking through Fry's (yeah, Fry's... its what we do on a Friday night. Pathetic!). Hehehe! Guess that's how I wound up as the GoMa Webmistress. ;) Ironically enough, I'm actually in contracts and procurement in RL. Nothing to do with techie stuff at all!

Talents, eh?

Well I'm good at electronics. Repairing them that is. I specialize in electromagnetic wave propagation. But let's see......

I shoot, mostly rifles, as I can't hit the broad side of a barn with a pistol, but lay any rifle in my hands....well my wife says I'm scary and she was in the Army.

I love music. Write music, have played music. I play the piano, the trombone, barotone and trumpet.

I throw darts and used to be in the city league here for darts, have a bunch of dusty trophies on my shelves, or packed in a box, don't remember.

I love to play games on the comptuer, adventure games, RPG's and yes I do like a good FPS once in a while, mostly the Call of Duty or Medal of Honor genre.

I started out learning how to make maps for games like that, and got pretty good at it. I guess that's why I don't mind trying my hand at Age Creation.

Lets see, I cook, as a mater of fact, I guess I am the cook at home.

Oh yah! I make my own beer, mostly Ales and Lagers. Quite good actually, about every 3 months I order different malts and hops and try making something new. I've got a great tasting water source, so that helps.

Well that's about all my talents I can think of.

Hmmmm, talents.

Well I am a proffesional artist. That is mainly why I have no time to help out here beyond moderation.

Oh, yeah... I am getting a pretty good rep at being a moderator for forums too (I hope).

I have strayed away from 2d design quite a bit, but I still do sketches for my curent job. My talents are now more geared torwards traditional 3d design (ie: sculpture, model building, machining parts....)

I do hope to slow down at some point and have more time to devote to hobbies such as this. ;)

Hello all, I have been lurking around since 07 and noticed something, so I thought I at least post once.
There seems to be 2 DaVinci's here so I would like to clear any confusion because I post over in Moul occasionly.
First, I chose this name in 07 for MOUL because of a feeling of kindred spirit to the orginal,, but it seems I have found another kindred spirit here. What L. stated in his post I would have stated too because I feel exactly the same way, wrong time wrong place.
I am just beginning to learn blender so I am WAAAY behind L. , but I can write story in a amateurish way so to speak.
Now for me in reality I am a professional Industrial Machinist/ Mechanic working in the power generation industry for the past 20 years. I keep the power going for your computers, well kinda depends on where you live ;). In the days? past I have painted, wrote music for guitar and invented. I still do some inventing ( working on another project now) and tweeking on things( this tweeking really annoys the company I work for). I build tweek and  crash my own computers.
That is who I am. Maybe L. and I are brothers some where, some time. :)

Heya all! :D

My main interest over the years has been in mechanical engineering. I worked with steam, diesel, and gasturbine powerplants of most kinds both in and out of the US Navy. I also operated my own tractor trailer for many years.

I bought my first PC when I was 54 years old, and things haven't been the same since! I am also a mostly self taught PC Technician (both software and hardware). I lean more toward the graphics/textures side of what we do here. I am also, like many here, learning to use Blender for the first time. I am also learning to use k3d in Linux! I want to do either a shell or and age, but am finding it hard going just learning the tools needed! But I'll get there eventually. ;)

I'm also kind of curious about the age range of the members here. You don't have to give an exact age, especially the Ladies, just say in your teens, 20's 30's etc. I'll start it off. I don't mind giving my exact age. I'm 62, been disabled since August '98, and still going strong! :D So don't let anyone convince you that you're over the hill because you happen to be a certain age!

I was born a girl and I am still of the female persuasion :D Happily married too, lol.

My interests (not necessarily talents!) vary from modeling to programming to anything that uses a mouse button in conjunction with a keyboard, I am what some might call a geek. :geek: I guess that is what drew me to the GoW in the first place ;)
