Guild of Writers

I made this texture for us all to use in our ages to leave our logo as the guild of writers. The only problem is this: Does using this logo break any copyright laws towards Cyan?

Hmm, if I were you, I'd trace the design in a vector-graphics program. I think that would be ok, I'm not really sure. The best thing to do is email a little friendly message to the cyan legal email address about your texture. legal@cyan.com is the address. Better safe than sorry.

The Guild of Writers have been working very hard to make fan-made game textures for our fan-made ages ever since the shutdown of Myst Online. Since I am one of the people who make these textures, I decided to make a texture, but I'm not sure if this certain texture breaks any copyright violations or anything like that, so I wanted to E-mail this to you to make sure I know what I can and cannot do in terms of making textures.

The stone backround is hand-made by me. However, I thought it would be cool to include the D'ni Guilds logo, so we can leave our mark saying it is a fan created age made by the Writers and the Maintainers. So I edited it in Photoshop, and this was the result. Now, I DO know that we are not allowed to use any of Cyan's textures, which is why I made the stone backround in this texture. What I am not sure about is whether or not we can use this logo to symbolize our fan created ages, or if it is in fact a copyright infringement.

Would we be allowed to use this specific logo, or is this not allowed by Cyan?

The one you posted is a bit blurry, so I took the liberty of vectorizing it:



Here's a sample (since the board isn't displaying the SVG properly at this time) rendered at 400x400:



I'll probably see about adding the text, and maybe making different colored versions later if no one beats me to it. Feel free to take these and perfect them.

And yeah, if you could find a way to add the text at the bottom which says "D'ni Guilds" that would be awesome

Okay, I've got the rest all done up for the Five Live guilds, but I'm getting a "board attachment quota has been reached" error when I try to attach the file. It's only 3.8KB... Is the quota global?
