3Ds Max Plasma pluggin

Shorah, I'm sure you've all seen cyan's "Roadmap" for MORE, and one thing on it really bothered me... it mentioned

"3DS Max Plasma plugins for creating MORE content. Release of the source for the plugin (only) to the Guild of Writers. This will allow for the easier creation of fan created tools as well as being able to use what Cyan used for creating Myst Online content."

that made me wonder... does this mean that we'll have to buy 3Ds Max, and add the plasma pluggin to it? isn't it like, reallly expensive? I don't mind spending 25 bucks on MORE, but if we do have to buy 3Ds max, won't that be a major blow to the GoW? I mean, most of us don't have 3Ds Max... anyway, just wondering if you guys know anything about this, as this has really been bothering me, if not, could someone ask it at the press conference for me? (I'm on vacaction, at the local library's computer).

I'm staying out of the mess of opinionated posts about how this will be received.

Seeing as I don't create too much as my work with Blender sucks and my UruCC game just up and quit on me, I'll just sit back and see how Cyan handles it.

They have a plan, which they will elaborate on when MORE is opened up. Don't fret about it too much right now. This doesn't mean I discourage speculation, I'm just saying that speculating won't do much good in the end all.

For right now Justin, you can use Blender and the GoW Plugin just fine. It still makes PRP files like it's suppose to.

Now..if you want to go spend $3,500 dollars on 3DSMax, you can and use their plugin (all though I don't know if it comes with instructions on how to use, heh).

fan created tools is what the PyPRP is.

Hmm... freeware... or 3.5 grand...

Herm... choices, choices... decisions, decisions...

*I kid*

Really though, for now just keep working with what we've got. It works fine, doesn't it? :S

Overall, yes it does. Sure there are some bugs, and things we're waiting on. But still: it's free, and it works, and it will continue to get better?

What more can you ask for?

Besides a pot of gold, well sure I'd like that too, but I'll stick to blender for now. When Gas hits 7 dollars a gallon, I'll sell my car and then use it to buy 3DSMax, as I'll be stuck at home anyways....ehehe.

Hmmm,

Perhaps it would be possible to convert the 3D Studio Max plug-in into the Gmax format?

Chogon said in the press conf that they are releasing the tools to people so that if fans want to tailor the tools to work with their favorite 3d model program, yes you can do that.

Note however: it's taken the tool devs....years to get it to work with Blender. And most of the time, that's the problem they have, making Blender work with the plugin....ehehe.

Chogon said in the interview that Cyan will also release the binaries, so we can use the plug-in in Blender guys. :D
