Don't know if any of you are familiar with this, but I just saw it in the current issue of Linux Journal:

I haven't had the opportunity to browse it, but I would imagine that a comprehensive printed guide to Blender's complexities should be necessary reading for any involved in such pursuits, especially considering the numerous complaints I have heard over the years about Blender. Hopefully, this will help.

From what I saw, it seems mainly aimed at animation and physics. Though it touches on other areas.

On the Blender site you can get the "Essential Blender" book that is compatible with 2.46. It's cheaper, and seems more related to what we do here. And the purchase supports the Blender Foundation.

Just my 2c. :)
