Request for Bugzilla Beta-Testers!

Postby Nynaveve » Wed Jul 16, 2008 7:35 am

Hello Writers!

With the upcoming release of MORE, we at the GoMa are looking at new ways to help streamline and unify our UCC testing and review process. We have already seen and discussed the recent Uru:CC FCAL proposal. With this in mind, the GoMa would like to implement a new tool to help both the GoW and the GoMa keep a neat, easy-to-read, history of all bugs and suggestions on Ages submitted for inspection. To do this, we would like to use Bugzilla. This idea has been suggested and discussed in the past.

However, we need your help! If you are a Writer who has already submitted an Age or will be doing so soon, please consider helping us with this beta-test. We would like to practice this process now and see if it could be used in the future with the release of MORE. Here's how we're looking to work things:

1. A Writer submits his or her Age for a voluntary review by the GoMa (same as is being done now via the Forums).
2. Said Writer has registered with Bugzilla and has their Age available via one of the ULM's, or a posted link.
3. GoMa members who choose to inspect the Age will post their bug reports and/or suggestions to the Bugzilla Product that is titled with the Age name.
4. Writer may now review posted bugs and/or suggestions and fix or ignore the findings. The status of each item may be updated in Bugzilla.
5. When Age is completed to the Writer's satisfaction, it is marked as "Closed" in Bugzilla, and no further bugs will be posted unless the Writer chooses to reopen the Age with future updates.
6. General chit-chat and talk about puzzle solutions or the Age in general may still take place on the GoMa forum, but bugs will be kept within Bugzilla.
7. Inactive Ages older than (suggested) 3 months will be removed from the Forum to prevent confusion and clutter, and transferred to the GoMa Wiki, where all comments and chit-chat are available for public review.

If this sounds like something you'd be willing to help us test, please let us know. Here is the link to Bugzilla.

BUGZILLA

Please register and use your Forum name in place of your Real Name if you are interested in helping out. The reason we are asking for volunteers at this time is because you MUST be registered inside Bugzilla in order to have a "Product" assigned to you. (It will be assigned by email address and you may choose to have notices sent to you when a new bug is posted.) Also, while we are fairly confident that this will work, we would like a few people to work with us to give it a try and help us refine and improve the process to suit both Guilds. While we are using this for Ages only right now, we feel that it can be opened up to other UCC items in the future, if we are able to add them to MORE.

Thanks!
-Your friendly GoMa buddies

I'm game. I registered using my forum name as my real name.

Could you create a "Shell 111" project and assign it to me, please? There's a number of bugs/feature requests I would like to add.

Thanks for setting this up, Nyn!
Can we rebuild it? Yes, we can - here's how.
