There is no words to describe my feelings right now. A mixture of elated excitement and fearful agony is somewhat of a start.

Why does the "tragedy of the commons" come unbidden to my mind? Uru is dead. Long live Whatever.

Break out the cones! Cue dancing! :D

I feel the same way as BAD- I have no idea how this should be organized without it spiraling into a mad whirl of madness. Perhaps a central MORE site should be set up, and everything can be discussed there?

Yeah, I'll second that one.

Something tells me the GoW is going to be very busy in the coming weeks/months whatever as Uru gets open sourced. I MO, the GoW should be the hub of all this.

If it happens, there's going to need to be a dedicated group of people needed to get this off the ground. I'm guessing the UnderGround shards that exist now may want to switch their focus into becoming that server set Tony talked about.

I know some people who'll be glad to come out of hiding!
Not naming anyone, of course, it's their choice...
;)

BTW, I'm willing to do my part for hosting.

Having this announcement feels really... weird. I'm very exited. Haven't been so excited in a long time!

I don't think that the GoW should be the hub of this (I have some ideas about what should become the hub of this but I want to talk to others some more and think about it more before telling you all). Basically, I see the writers as a very artist-geared place. Ok, yeah, I know that there's all that PyPRP stuff and technical stuff but I think this is the place for people to show their skills at building worlds.

Content is more important than engine stuff. We don't want this to become a technical hub of Uru and then scare away people with good story ideas, age-concepts, etc.

I think it's important to spread stuff out so it can grow independently.

If you don't mind I'll fall off my chair in bewilderement.. Then I guess I'll echoe others' mixed feelings of joy and anxiety..
It'll certainly bring some 'not-so-great' things, and probably a good deal of anarchy, but I do think it was the right thing to do from Cyan..
Now the real question:
Now that we have this infinite field of possibilty ahead of us.. what are we gonna do of it?

I was thinking of other, more important, things but I guess that can be done too. :P
I was thinking more along the line of :
- Enhancing server performance/stability
- Enhancing/Expanding the Ki
- Adding back animated linking panels (heh)
- Making a list of all the hundreds of things that we mentionned over the years that 'we'd like to fix if we could' and get to fix them.
etc..
