UPDATE:

Tony has replied to our Volcano proposal. Cyan is excited about involving fan-based content (either through Volcano or through other means), but implementation will take a significant amount of design and production resources which are currently awaiting funding commitments. In the meantime, they appreciate our continued patience, enthusiasm and support.
Can we rebuild it? Yes, we can - here's how.

What's good about it? It's just a diplomatic way of saying they don't know when, if ever, they will approve Volcano.

I don't understand why Cyan doesn't jump on the Volcano bandwagon. Cyan is trying to show its investor that there is a great deal of interest in the return of Live. Allowing Volcano would increase the amount of traffic in Until Uru, so it would help Cyan in its efforts to impress the investor (otherwise, without any new content, UU quickly becomes deadly dull and people drift away). Plus, you obviously have several talented, dedicated, and enthusiastic people who are willing to provide new content for free! For a company strapped for money, what could be more attractive than that? Finally, (since Volcano is designed to be compatible with UU) then without many, if any, of the production costs of which it speaks in its latest reply, Cyan could approve Volcano in its current form on a temporary basis, and then, if and when Cyan is ready to launch Live again on a full basis, Cyan could impose whatever additional preconditions and restrictions it wishes on Volcano in order to continue its approval. But it completely escapes me how Cyan (and its finances) could be anything but helped to have a free group of age makers providing a part of the content of Uru and, thus, helping to generate continued enthusiasm and participation.

Well, the good news is that work that the DDTF is doing now will help in that regard. I've requested from Cyan that our task force can get a one month extension on developing our proposal because we would like to show to Cyan what our work can do with just fan-ages alone. I haven't heard back yet but I will follow up again soon.

Once we have an idea on what's going on IC with classification and how Cyan handles its asset management system, we can talk about organizing the collection OOC-wise. Then we can get into cataloguing during the last month IC-wise and OOC-wise. :)
