Sound Problems in URU CC

Hello everyone,

Today my URU CC sounds arn't working. A couple days ago I needed to reinstall URU, so I did, and the sound was working just fine. Then I needed to see a friend's age, but he said I needed the Offline KI. I got the offline KI, but I had gotten the original Flymode patch into my URU. So after fighting with URU for a time, I realized that my sav, init, several non-folder dll's, and log files were missing. Then URU woudln't start at all. I had an older copy of URU so I loaded the init, sav, ect.. into my new copy and then also converted the Myst V ages into my URU CC with Drizzle 19 plus added in the MOUL ages. This fixed URU's startup problem.

Before starting up URU to see if my URU was working now, I ran a sound decompress. Then when I go to open URU, the sounds in my game weren't working. The only sound that did work was the footstep sound for dirt. I deleted my soundcache and re-decompressed my sounds and then THAT sound didn't work too. But then I entered my friends age and the SFX that he put in his age (not including the built-in URU SFX) WERE working. I tried copying over my old SFX into the SFX folder and doing another decompress, didn't work. My friend gave me his init files for Volume and Sound, that didn't work either. My game sounds are up all the way also, and my Sound Card is fine. Any suggestions to my delima?

Thanks,
Valdez :geek:

If you only copied the ogg files from your backup I suggest to copy the wav files to the streamingCache folder inside the sfx folder as well.

You get sounds in fan ages because they can only use ogg files (which is in fact a very fortunate bug). Cyan's ages often use both ogg and wav files. It seems strange though that you do not at least hear a few sounds (the ones that use ogg).

Well, that seemed to do the trick! Thank you very much D'Lanor! :)

Thanks again,
