Planning on an age.

I have literally no experience with 3D modeling with the exeption of Terragen. Would if be posible to do the texturing in TerraGen, am have it show up in the final product. My overall goal is to eventually learn how to make vegitation and what not, but I still need to make the age first, any advice?
