EAX: Uru:CC and MOUL

Something I'm trying to figure out here. I never paid attention to the EAX settings when I first started playing Uru. I remember when I first started playing MOUL on GT, I enabled the EAX settings, and suddenly I was getting echos in the cavern where one would think you'd have them (yes, Cyan's Plugin has the EAX settings, and I even have them figured out, but can't test them).

However, I remember later I upgraded my motherboard, which of course is my sound chip. I can't remember what I had before, except that it was AC97. My current motherboard uses IDT HD audio (which is no longer supported or updated  ).

Now, I noticed with Uru:CC, I can't enable the EAX. However.....with MOUL:a, I do have EAX just fine (and yah, I have EAX with games like Bioshock, Bioshock2, etc, etc) and it works just fine.

I can't remember if the EAX ever worked in Uru:CC,.....heheheheh, as I wasn't really paying attention.

Can anyone tell me if it works fine? Or is it not enabled? And if not, why in the world would they have that option even listed?

It should be enabled and working in Windows XP if your hardware supports it. In Windows Vista and 7 the method that Uru:CC uses for EAX no longer works.

Hrmmmmmm....

That would explain it then: I'm using Windows 7

I've tried the different compatibility modes, but no joy. EAX works just fine in my other games, and yah, even in MOUL:a, I can turn it off and on.

Hrumph! :x

PotS used EAX with DirectSound, which was disabled in VIsta+. That was the primary reason for MOUL switching to OpenAL.

Yah I read about that last night as I was researching this. Apparently if you are using Creative Labs cards there's some patches out there, something called Alchemey that will return the EAX to you for many games (not all though). But that won't work with my sound device, eheh.

Another reason why I wish I had a stand-alone MOUL:a working. I've got no way to test my EAX settings now that I set up in Max with Cyan's plugin.
