Why does the "writers" part get covered up in every forum i visit? Did someone hit us with a copyright or something?

This boils down to something Cyan said awhile back, and GoW's response to it. What it was I can't remember offhand, someone else probably knows exactly what though.

It started when the (ridicoulous) forum rule on the official Myst Online forum, which doesn't allow links to sites containing information on Drizzle and other stuff ,was announced . Like we may link to the /main/ forum of the GoW but not to a /subforum/. and this is moderated

At least that is how I remember it.

It was indeed a reaction to something obscure nobody remembers, that happened on an external site nobody cares about.
It was funny while it was relevant.
Months later, our own site, about which we do care, is still defaced, proving to the world that we are highly susceptible to outside influence.

See viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4393 for the original discussion. And I disagree with Chacal in that some do, and we all should keep both sides of that medal called "Cyan" in our minds.

You can avoid the issue entirely by using the much more user-friendly prosilver style. ucp.php?i=165 ("My board style" on the Board Preferences tab of the User Control Panel). The forums are much more readable that way and there is no redacted logo.

Regarding the clever logo, read my posts in the old thread Diafero mentions. I have five posts there. Three are my contributions of wisdom and two are jokes. Extra points for knowing which is which.

Really, if the GoW wants to be taken seriously by a mature world-wide audience when open source MOUL arrives, those currently inhabiting the name of The Guild of Writers will take its audience more seriously than its attitude toward Cyan Worlds. The Guild might also want to poll all its members to see if the redacted logo represents the majority view of the organization or that of just a few. It might also include the wider community and the public at large to produce a better sample, then make the results public.

We are super-serious, aren't we?
I sure hope the day I don't do something just because it's childish, or not-serious, is way off (which is different from not doing something because it is stupid or contra-productive!)

The logo represents a fact. Now, one could discuss whether we want the main headline to remember us of that fact again and again. Also, I do not like polls, I prefer actual discussion threads where people have to properly express their opinion instead of reading of clicking the button someone tells them to click. You can't tell those who have an opinion from those who just pretend to have one in a poll, but you have some chance to do that in a discussion.

I might even agree that the fact the logo points to got mostly irrelevant - for the reason Chacal mentioned: For what we do here at the GoW, Cyan and its forum lost most of their importance. I'm still convinced that rule is about as wrong as you can get, and that it shows Cyan's disrespect to us, but I mostly stopped caring about Cyan.
I really hardly care about the logo either, I must say :D

When I started to put "member of mesage redacted" in my signature on the MOUL forums I didn't do that because I was feeling childlish, but because I honestly felt/feel that I am "redacted" there and cannot speak my mind. This is also one of the reasons I don't visit it anymore

In fact I know quite a lot some myst fans who never visit the MOUlforums because of the drama/rules. They rely on others to bring them any news that is posted there.
Somehow I cannot help thinking that this is wrong somewhere...

Hmm,
May be you are right with that but:

If Cyan wants to be taken seriously by me (not talking for other writers) , they would better open source Moul right now!
You really think that will ever happen?
I feel a bit like being glad with a dead sparrow after years of waiting.
