Recreate

Postby zeke365 » Tue Jul 03, 2012 5:02 pm

I new here, but I was thinking of recreating URU CC with the MOULagin online component . To adapt to today technologically. It would take a lot of work to do this, then present to Cyan Worlds as a gift of our appreciation. We would not release anything new only what cyan has allowed so far. I know MOULagain is open source but I think it would be a neat idea to do.

Do you mean converting the Path of the Shell Ages back to having their CC puzzles? Or something more?

What I mean is combining URU CC with MOULagain together into one and offer the online component like it was originally designed for.

Virtually impossible. It would require reverse-engineering another program. The effort would not be worth it.

Anyway, it's already possible to use Uru:CC with an online component.

It's an idea, and I do not mean converting either

I understand what you mean, and I am telling you bluntly that your idea is unfeasible. If you want online access in Uru, just sign in to the Deep Island Shard. Why waste effort on something far more complicated? 8-)

Perhaps you could try explaining your idea in more detail. So far, it sounds like several existing things.

We seem to be misunderstanding you.

What I proposing is very complex. Yes we have the technology to do it, but I would like to recreate or make a new engine, not transfer things over but to rebuild from the ground up. The reason I propose this idea is because, Cyan Worlds has become a small company and we don't the community to shut down again. Though I was never apart of Unil Uru, or gamestap. We could rebuild the engine with all MOULagain feattures and and present to Cyan as a gift of our appreciation of the community, so that so it would be capable of today's computers and maybe cyan would release new material. Now the recreation would add nothing new just the puzzles in Uru CC and Moulagain. This may seem like impossible task but it could reach new people.

I don't undertsand why you would want to create a completely new client for this. It would be far easier (though still complex) to just convert the Ages from Uru:CC to be usable in MO:UL, instead of writing a new client. :? Why build a client that's exactly the same as MO:UL (with the old Ages) when we have MO:UL?

Are you a programmer? If you are, feel free to try... but remember Plasma took years to develop, and that PlasmaClient (the only program I know of as an alternative to Plasma) was still very incomplete when it was shut down.

In any case, I doubt this would motivate Cyan to make new content - simply because Cyan CAN'T. They just don't have the money for it.
