I noticed about this board's search function....it' doesn't like me.

Seems like every time I go to search, I always get the "your word is too common." weeeeelllll excuise me for living!

Let me give you an example:

I was trying to quickly see if anyone had been talking about Water Textures by searching instead of looking at each forum thread title. Sometimes the title may not tell me anything.

So I typed in Water Textures and the board said those words were too common......sigh.

I guess I should have typed in: "Water Textures that I saw someone talking about a week or so ago in Thailand." maybe by throwing Thailand in there, it'll actually search for me! der.......

Did you say please?

I tried the same search "water textures"..Then I added find as I figured someone may have wrote "where do I find water textures?", when that gave me nothing, I got a little frustrated. When i get frustrated I like to do something absurd to let steam off so I typed "Water textures find please"

That got me 92 matches........

 :D

Bad phpBB config. Not that its search function works very well when correctly configured.
I've been fighting it on a number of phpBB boards I administer.

Doesn't matter.........I've found out one thing about me using water textures.......I'm not doing it well....

heheheh, just when you think you've started getting a handle on things, bam, something comes along to mess you all up. But since I'm an engineer I shouldn't always act so surprised by it. But I do.

I just wish I would make the water....well look like water. And I mean see through, like in Eder Gira, Kemo, etc. The surface is reflective....

Until Cyan gives us some specs, we're pretty much like a bunch of monkeys who find a xerox machine.

Well... ever tried going to the cleft with a KI?

A picture of a KI is in the basin at the bottom of the cleft... sitting on the water's image o-o

Really, that time they just copied some images and didn't care.

In the Eder Ages... they used a... weird thing.

They applied a dual shader... I think

1 shader provides a dim reflection of the environment, another provides a "transparent" texture. Then you just slap some water under em :P

This is where you use environment maps :P

I know that Cyan uses EnvironmentMaps on the water... I have a nagging suspicion that something is done with a plShader also... Well, that's more than you knew to begin with.

I think they also use a ripple manager

Hoikas is right.....now I know more than I knew before (other than the surface in places like the Eder's is reflective!). :D

I'll look into it more today. Took last night off so I could watch the meteor shower.
