Okay, we already know of Reziksehv, the Age where the Pods (called by their Location: Negilahn, Dereno, Payiferen, Tetsonot) are located.

Now... why is Todelmer a random pod in space? I think we may think of this...

Todelmer is circling the Pod Age.

Think about it! The moon from which you play Myst V's Todelmer is just that: A MOON. Maybe the Giant, ringed planet up above where the "Todelmer Pod" is located... is ACTUALLY part of the Pod Age!

I would agree.

We don't get to see much of the night sky in the pods, so it is possible we can't see the asteroid belt that seems to run around the planet.

It's a ring, even though when you're in the pod they look as big as some small houses, rings comprise of many different things ranging from dust particles to rocks the size of houses.

It would be quite visable during the day time, just as our moon can be visable during the day time.

It could be that if that planet is the pod planet, that:

Neg --- there are too many plants to get a very clear view of the sky.
Tetsonot ----- Underwater, self explanitory
Dereno ---- too close to the pole to see the ring which maybe closer to the equator at this time.
Payferen ---- All the pod windows are facing away from the direction of the ring.

There, all nicely explained as to why we can't see the rings from any of the pods in MOUL.

Now there is another explination. Esher told us that Todelmer was for studying the heavens. It's quite possible that the pod in orbit in the Rings, is simply a seperate pod, and that pods are what the D'ni were using to observe things in safety, sort of like Standard Equipment. That Reziksehv is not the large ringed planet in Myst V, but a seperate location.

But that's the beauty of it, you can come up with many reasons to make things fit.

Now, to quote you:

Doesn't Negilahn study the forest? Dereno study the tundra? Payiferen study the harsh deserts? Tetsonot study the unforgiving oceanfloor?

Just because it studied "The Heavens" doesn't mean it's a different pod. Remember, Esher was kinda a radical D'ni... so he may have blown a lot out of proportion.

Either way, it would make sense that all the pods would be in one Age... and that Reziksehv might ACTUALLY be the Age of... Todelmer...

This brings something else to mind:

Does the Descriptive Book of Earth (D'ni) describe the Universe? Are there Linking Books to Mars?

Just something to get people thinking.

ANOTHER new idea. Remember Myst V? BEFORE you used the Bahro Tablets to move the rings? It followed the planet's equator almost perfectly

Maybe Payiferen's windows don't show the ring because the ring is almost dead overhead... behind the pod

The "Age of Todelmer" was a moon, the Pod was orbiting a planet which could be Reziksehv, size of the planet and the size of the map seems a little off to me but there again, EoA is a game so not really 100% certain on canonicity.

In my opinion, when Negilahn was created, Cyan had bigger plans for it and had none for a group of pods in the same age. Todelmer was going to be one pod age, Rehzihksehv another.

Is there any way to get OUTSIDE of a pod? I saw a few images of people outside in Payiferen and Negilahn...

Those were probably Tweek's images. They were assembled in photoshop, and show the marker "FM", which stands for 'Fan Made' .
