K'Lotin - a mini age for learning

Postby tobiasniva » Thu Dec 11, 2008 9:34 pm

Hi all.

After a while struggling with Blender I´m starting to form a decent workflow from 3DS Max...and thought I might show you some pics.
All modelling/texturing/lighting is done inside Max and transfered to Blender via the *.nif format (mentioned by Andy at GoMa) - but I still have to make two *.nif's to get the different UV's from Max.
RIght now I´m looking at mixing the static lightmaps with dynamic lights as I plan to have some of them to toggle. Since I´m no hacker/scripter/coder I haven´t looked at any interaction yet...so anyone interested in joining - PM me! :-)

I love the baking there! I thought those were renders!

Your workflow may be a little complicated, but it's definitely worth it! Good work :)

Your lighting and texturing is most impressive.

Very Nice! :)

I'm a Maya native, so I understand why this type of work flow is more desirable.

Thanks for the comments.

@Kato: Yeah, the workflow is far from ideal, I know. But since I think I´ll not be able to learn Blender to the extent I know Max, I´ll stick with Max for now. As for the 2 exports needed - it´s just because I haven´t found a format that supports 2 UV-channels all the way to Blender... :-(

@Justin: I don´t really know when this will be good enough for a release. I will continue to add a bunch of models to the scene...but the real hard work (for me anyways) is to script the logics and interactions for all the things I want to be going on in there...so I´m still open for any help regarding this. :-)
