Sorry for the delay -- it's been pretty busy weeks around here. Let me
just copy my reply, maybe it's helpful for others.
Anyway, all I can do here is guessing. Being stuck at "Fetching player"
indicates a network issue. Frequently such problems are caused by
so-called "security suites" that include something like a "personal
firewall". Many of these are rather lacking in quality, and they tend
to break the network in more or less subtle ways. Uru's networking is
somewhat strange, so frequently those bad firewalls fail to handle it
and/or outright block things.
So if you have such a "security suite" installed, try to see whether
you can add some kind of exception to allow Uru unrestricted network
access (in particular, you need to do this for the "UruExplorer.exe").
Alternatively, try disabling the network protection / firewall temporarily.
Windows actually contains a firewall on its own, so you wouldn't even
need the other one -- if the security suite doesn't disable the Windows
firewall, which many do. That's rather ironic, considering that the
Windows firewall is also providing better protection than most of the
others...
If you *don't* have such a product installed on your machine, I am not
really sure what else to suggest. Maybe your router is acting up, or
maybe it's your internet service provider. You could try asking in the
forums; there's more people there, so they are more likely to have an idea.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.
