I'm crashing when I link into the neighborhood

Postby cennie » Tue Sep 14, 2010 6:58 pm

The error i get when i'm linking into the neighborhood is "SDL - Desc Problem".
I've noticed you can't share the neighborhood book like you can your others. Is this a bug or just doesn't happen? :!:

I don't know about the crashing, but it occurs to me that there's only one Neighborhood instance on DI, so it doesn't really make sense to have an additional share function.

Edit: crashing might be related to this. Try again now?

Wait, what? Cennie had hood SDL issues, then Pavitra brings in Neolbah, and Wamduskasapa mentions the old (prp-file-related) UAM-Shard-only hood issue. I am seriously confused.

But, at any rate: Neolbah worked fine for me yesterday after I uploaded it. I just tested hood and Neolbah again and they still work fine. Cennie, I updated the hood SDL some time ago, and maybe your client did not yet that update? That would be a serious issue as it means Uru can not write it's own folder. Which OS do you use?

@cennie: You have problems with your permissions. In this thread I answered that you need to move your installation to an user folder. Please read our instructions for this. This is the best and the most secure way to run URU because you need no more higher permissions then a user.

Neighborhood and Neolbah work fine for me on DI. I tested several times.

Thanks for feedback, cennie.
Does everything work fine for you now?

Well, I once had a glitch where I went to DI Bevin using the "/hood" command. When I landed I used "/nexus". Nothing happened. "/hood" was broken too. The game crashed when I tried to go to Relto (I just sat there and touched my book).

Did that happen again after re-starting the game? Maybe the connection silently dropped, this happens from time to time (depending on the quality of your internet connection and network equipment), and due to the protocol Cyan chose, it's hard to avoid.

Yeah, I guess that was it. The error has never happened again.
