I couldn't get MystV ages converted... ahh I pissed away 10 bucks on steam, dang it...

About converting the files, don't expect to solve Myst V's puzzles on Uru, the Ages are totally broken. To play Myst V's Ages, just play Myst V.

However, about that missing file... I know we can't just upload the file so that everyone can download it to end the conversion since it would be releasing Cyan's contents (that wouldn't be a good idea). But what about distributing an empty file ? A file in which all Esher stuff would be removed, but that would be valid so Drizzle can convert it. Offline it would be ok; on the shard it wouldn't work unless you remove this file from the checklist.

Just a random thought...

I paid 10 bucks for it so it wouldnt be illegal if its just one file... I paid the license whats to say one little file is going to hurt?

I like it but how would it be empty? Well cyan could release myst V as a free to play, but then it would still be not allowed to send missing files...

That's true, but I meant posting a file that anyone could download, not just one person. Of course you have almost no way to use it if you didn't buy the game (and it's quite useless since that's just an anim, not even a model). But that's still releasing Cyan content. I don't really know a lot about this, so I just want to make sure there isn't any legal issue.

Well, you would just have to put no object in it. In short, it is a Plasma file with the same Age/Page Name, Prefix as Cyan's, that it readable by EoA, but that doesn't include any objects.
Drizzle would consider it a correct empty file, change the sequence prefix and make it readable by PotS. This way it wouldn't stop the convertion.

By the way, another way you could convert Myst V would be to go to the Advanced/Manual Conversion/MystV tab in Drizzle, fill the two game directory fields, press "Select All" button and de-select Direbo_drboEsher_DireboSrln.prp in the list. This way all the 3D files would be converted. Then you go in your Myst V's folder, copy all the files in the AVI folder and put them in your Uru AVI folder, and copy all the .ogg files in your MystV sfx folder to the Uru sfx folder (don't bother with .sgt files or Esher/Yeesha speeches), and run SoundDecompress.
In theory, you should have all the needed data. But the best way is still to use the Automation tab of Drizzle.

That's a good idea... I'll try removing the file from the dataserver (so that it is not required anymore). If that turns out to work, and if I manage to somehow create an empty Myst V prp file, that could indeed be a solution which does not require modifying Drizzle.

I forgot to mention, not sure anyone has already said it...
These 4 files are in fact 4 times the same anim file. The first time you come to Direbo, Esher speaks to you. Since you can link to any point from the Great Shaft, they had to duplicate it so that Esher can be spawned 4 times on the 4 islands.

Anyway, I tried creating this empty page by decompyling the file to an XML and fire all the stuff. That's what I got:

So, pretty much nothing in it. Then I recompliled it as an EoA file with PRCC. This way it should be OK with Cyan, and Drizzle shouldn't complain.

Could you try putting this file in your Myst V dat folder and run the conversion again, sdickens ?

I just removed the Esher files in Direbo from the list of Direbo files (so they will be removed when you log in), and Direbo is still working. So if you get the conversion done with the substitution file by Sirius, logging in should be fine.
