In Relto they are two gaps on the bookshelf so it's need 2 more books.

Here's a complete relto bookshelf in Deep Island (each shard is different):

The lower row of books is divided into 4 sections:

1) the first 7 books are for recent additions or ages with recent updates,
Gap (8th position)
2) the books of selected ages by the shard owner (9th to 13th) (Elodea, Oolbahnneea, Sonavio, Takla Ma'kan, & DRA Office)
3) 4 theme books regrouping ages under a given theme (14th to 17th) (D'ni Locations, Huge ages, Gardens, & Geological ages)
4) a special book to link to Crowthistle Ages <-- your 2nd Gap must be that book

I can only assume the empty tray is left there so that the "most recent" books stand out as separate from the "featured" books.

One of those wooden separators would have been much more ideal. If you look at the trays on the bottom shelf (when they're empty) there seems to be plenty of places separators could have fit in.

Sadly, the problem is that all of those trays actually have a leaning book which would get in the way...

That's odd that it looks like the Er'cana book from MOUL.

Well, so does the Elodea book but it has the title "Elodea" added.

And i can't see the Great Zero markers.

It's not at all straight forward to add a new wooden separator to the shelf. That's why we are using a gap to separate "recent ages" from "featured ages".
