In February, I lost my terebyte drive. Most was backed up but not game installations. Recently reinstalled Deep Island.
On the dark screen with the bars at the bottom - preparing to link -'authenticating' fine; Preparing to link Fetching player freeze and 'times out'. Kill with task manager and restart, and everything is fine.

Re: Login problems -'fetching player - timed out'
This continues and happens first login every day. Does not happen for subsequent logins that day.

Re: Login problems -'fetching player - timed out'
If it works the second time, this sounds like a network issue to me -- really slow DNS, or something like that? Do you have some kind of "personal firewall" installed? Those tend to break Uru because they are confused by how it does networking.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

Re: Login problems -'fetching player - timed out'
No on personal firewall - just Norton.
I can sometimes finesse the thing if I hit Task Manager right when it happens. Task manager comes up and Uru launches as normal.
Norton isn't a change but the re-installation is.
