Hi!

In other news: I'm running High Sierra, but am also having exactly the same problem with my TOC install:

update failed: kNetErrFileNotFound
Data\dat\CustonAvatars_District_Cate.prp.gz

did y'all figure that out?

Shorah skweebop and welcome to the forums (almost a year later than your post, unfortunately).

I'm having the same trouble as you with TOC, however there is no official support for it anywhere anymore.

For using Deep Island on a Mac, I have a totally new solution that I give full credit for to EdisonRex. :-) If you want to know more, read on!

    1. Download and install VMware Fusion (free!):

    • Go to https://www.vmware.com/products/fusion.html
    • Register as a personal user (the sign up page will require you to add a business name and business occupation, which you can fill in as “Not Applicable”)
    • Download and install VMware Fusion
    • Your VMware online account (https://customerconnect.vmware.com/grou ... r-personal) will now show you as a registered user of Fusion and will display your license key.
    • Copy/paste your license key to activate your VMware Fusion product.

    2. Download and install Windows 10 (free!):

    • Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softwar ... ndows10ISO and download the ISO
    • Start VMware and drag/drop the Windows .iso file into the VMware install window
    • Install Windows normally (you can skip entering a license key if you don’t want to customize your Windows environment)

    3. Download and install DI (free!):

    • Start VMware Fusion, log in to Windows
    • Install your copy of Uru: Complete Chronicles to your WIndows VM
    • Download and run the Deep Island patcher
    • Follow diafero's instructions here
    • To run UruCC in HD, install the UruCCBeta patch from here.

You can also use your Windows VM for running MOULa and other Windows-only things. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten this to work (yet) for running Gehn or TOC.

Shorah b'shem everyone,

I'm posting an update for the new Windows 11.

To create a new VM using Windows 11, follow the instructions in the prior post and instead of downloading the Windows 10 ISO, download the Windows 11 ISO from here.

Note that I haven't tried to install a Windows 11 VM machine myself yet, so there might be some further tweaks necessary when creating a fresh VM.

To upgrade a Windows 10 VM to Windows 11:

    1. Ensure your Windows 10 is fully up to date:

    • Run your Windows 10 VM
    • Click the Window icon in the lower left corner and then click the gear icon (Settings)
    • In the search box, type Windows Update and hit Return
    • On the Windows Update screen, click the Check for updates button
    • Ensure all required updates are installed successfully (this can take some time and require a few VM restarts)

    2. If you don't already have the PC Health Check app installed, go download it here.

    • Install and run the PC Health Check app on your Windows VM machine
    • Note which Windows 11 requirements your VM fails to meet

    3. If needed, update your Windows 10 VM machine to meet minimal Windows 11 requirements. In my case, I had to add more memory and enable/install TPM 2.0

    • Add more memory:
    (1) Shut down the VM by clicking the Window icon in the lower left corner, then clicking the power icon and selecting Shut down
    (2) Leave VMWare running and click Virtual Machine | Settings... in the top menu bar
    (3) Click the Processors & Memory icon in the Settings list
    (4) Move the slider to 4000 or higher
    • Enable/install TPM 2.0:
    (1) From Processors & Memory, click the Show All button
    (2) Click the Encryption icon
    (3) Tick the Enable Encryption checkbox and wait for the encryption to finish
    (4) Click the Add Device... button in the upper right corner
    (5) Select the Trusted Platform Module icon
    (6) The next screen will warn you about deleting TPM (it really means you've just successfully enabled/installed TPM 2.0)

    4. Download and run the Windows 11 Installation Assistant (the first option for downloading Windows 11).

    • You may find that you need to free up more disk space on your VM machine (the PC Health Check app won't necessarily warn you about this before you begin installation):
    (1) The Windows 11 install will offer some suggestions for freeing up disk space (such as emptying the Recycle Bin and deleting Temp files)
    (2) If this isn't sufficient, you will need to stop the Windows 11 install and shut down the VM by clicking the Window icon in the lower left corner, then clicking the power icon and selecting Shut down
    (3) Leave VMWare running and click Virtual Machine | Settings... in the top menu bar
    (4) Click the Hard Disk NVMe icon in the Settings list
    (5) Move the slider to a sufficiently higher setting
    (6) Start your VM machine
    (7) Go to Computer Management (type Computer Management in search and start the app)
    (8) Click on Disk Management, under Storage
    (9) Your added disk space will appear under Disk 0 as unallocated space
    (10) Right click your C: allocated disk space and choose Extend Volume... then click Next
    (11) On the Select Disks screen, ensure your additional hard drive space is listed in the Selected box then click Next and then Finish
    (12) Restart your installation of Windows 11
