I think that may be why we got the plug ins "as is". I get the feeling Cyan keeps an eye on what is being done to Uru as far as the additions the ehem programmers have added, over the years. and know what you guys are capable of. They knew if they made the plug ins available, you guys would figure them out somehow. as far as the Policies on MOUL forums. I believe their is some legal reason behind it but im not sure. Considering what they could do legally and what they actually have done........ and all the other projects going on at Cyan. Im surprised we got this much. Remember they are not making money on Uru live and for a business freebies can be good P.R. but their still freebies and are usually given out when the company has got a good surplus of time and money. Cyan just like any other business is out to make money you don't make money giving stuff away for free.

cuz in real life nothing ever is.

one thing I was wondering a bit off topic, How come no one has ever opened up new areas and added new terrain to D'ni the places is dripping with potential Doors could be opened, stairs, rooftops, stuff that Can never got around to.. why not show them what you got by farther improving what they started and never finished

I, among others have wanted to do that. I am, however, also aware the likely response to that would be essentially getting lynched by nutjobs.

Nutjobs? This is forbidden by Cyan. We can't touch existing places.

From Rawa's guidelines:
Writers must not reveal "new" information about characters, places, groups, etc. used by Cyan.

Adding new places to the hoods or the City is prevented by that rule.

Not quite, we can add to Ae'gura, but it would have to be self enclosed and not really state it's in Ae'gura (grey area loop hole kind of deal which is what I used for Fehnir's House).

Just keep in mind when you build new areas that cyan could retcon it with their own content (although to be fair, chances of that happening are slim, as cyan isn't and probably won't be in that position for a long time).

I agree, and to me that kind of things sucks; to put it bluntly. :/ We end up saying: look I know this place look exactly like Ae'gura, and this door here looks totally like that door in the City that is closed; but this is totally a coincidence believe me..
To me the main problem with this situation, is the lack of coherence that may/will lead to. If we disregard/circumvent this rule anyone can 'open' a door in Ae'Gura or the hoods.. And then we'll have two dozens upper Library. And yet none of them will be 'official' or canon.
I like cohesive, coherent universes, the whole instance mess is enough of a problem to me; if we start having totally different Caverns depending on the Shards, to me that will dilute even more Uru's universe. And that will damage even more what little suspension of disbelief is left. (But that's a very subjective thing.)
Currently I'm working on a D'ni location for the contest; and I have absolutely no idea where in the Cavern that will be, in order to not conflict with existing Cyan content, yet having it still feel like it belongs to 'The' Cavern... And I'm stuck because of this. I think I'll end up doing something very vague and generic; and that sucks. :/
I'd love to lay out a map of the Cavern, and see us fill in the blank areas one at a time. So that in a couple years we end up with a complete cohesive living Cavern. (sounds like Ahra Pahts..) But what if I work on one area, publish it; and then someone else come and do something else for that area? There goes of the cohesion of that universe..

When we discuss Drizzle or CC hacking on the Cyan forums the post get deleted; how do you think they will react if you publish a new Hood area? Of course they can't delete what's on UAM, but do you think they'll enjoy it?
I may not agree with some of their decisions, but it's their game, their decisions. And situation isn't likely to change in the future...
Unless we start intentionnaly ignoring their rules.
Personally I'm not ready to do that yet.

Basically, the reason why we do not have new places in the city/hood opened up is because us hackers and age writers care much more about what Cyan and the community say than many say we do...
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

One of the many reasons why I've given up on D'ni.

Come the end of my current story arc, if I plan on continuing with Age building I plan on creating something new, Linking Book related but not connected to D'ni so I don't have to jump through annoying hoops and stuff.

I'm going to keep making things for D'ni because I like making things for D'ni. If people have a problem with that, they can just deal with it. I'll make what I want, how I want, when I want because doing so is fun for me. Sort of like laughing at the MOUL forum.
