Question re: new Drizzle version installation

Something is not quite clear in my mind.

When a new drizzle version is published, what are your recommendation(s) :?:

Do we installed it over the previous version ?

Or do you recommand we install it in a completely new and clean installation ?

Just make a Drizzle folder, and copy each new .jar file in it. Delete old ones if disk space is a problem. Make sure your Drizzle shortcuts point to the latest .jar file.

That is not a clear answer to my above question.

I wanted to know about what we are supposed to do when we install a new drizzle version.

1- Over(+) our previous game installation folder ?

2- Or are we supposed to create a new game folder(clean installation) ?

I have lot of extra space on my external drive but I am not certain everybody else have as much free space, hence my questionning :!:

Iv got a separate folder in My documents with copies of Drizzle 16-21, when they come out with a new version I leave one copy in my drizzle folder and I copy and paste the new version into my Uru CC folder after deleting the old one from my Uru CC folder, this way I have copies of all the dizzle files in my documents/drizzle folder and the latest in my Uru CC folder.

or remove the old drizzle and replace in with a new drizzle

and always back up your work

All of those work, but Chacal's version is what I do also. You can have all the Drizzle versions in the same folder, and that can be the Uru folder or any other folder, it doesn't matter.

This doesn't make sense. Drizzle is not related to your Uru installation.
You install Drizzle at any location you want on your computer.

Then what is the purpose of drizzle if it has nothing to do with Uru(+MOUL) :?: :?:

Maybe if someone with a better control of english who understand what I mean could explain it to Chacal.

Btw, I run drizzle from a special folder in "My Documents".

My guess is Nanouk means if a new drizzle version is out, can he apply this on his Uru installation that was modified with the earlier drizzle version or does he have to use it on a new clean Uru installation. Did you mean that, Nanouk?

Yes Corvus, that is exactly what I meant.

Thank you very much for the clarification.

Maybe the fact that Chacal is from Québec.ca and that I am from Montréal.ca could explain the communication problem.

For unknown reason, my communications with german players have always been much easier than with my french community. :P :D

Let's work this out:

As far as I have experienced, Drizzle doesn't need to have a fresh installation of Uru. In short "Drizzle is not related to your Uru installation." Drizzle downloads Ages and places their files into heir proper folders (sounds in sfx, sdl files in the sdl directory). Unlike the old ULM, it's not intertwined with the Uru installation. It's just a .jar file and it keeps an Age archive. So, as others have said, all you should have to do is put the newest Drizzle jar file into the Uru installation's main subdirectory and update any shortcuts with the new name.

EDIT: Also, Chacal is correct in saying that it doesn't matter where you put the drizzle jar file. Again, in that way, it "is not related to your Uru installation."
