I agree, the idea was to make the gameplay a little bit more like the actual thing (= make the shirts matter), but not to the extent that it gets totally annoying. (Once the link is found, it stays in the list and you can use it any time, no matter what you wear.)
Do you think that Cyan will change it in X3?
