GOG uru and drizzle

Postby fyxa » Mon Feb 22, 2010 7:40 pm

Just recently my disk install of uru CC started crashing on startup after I had installed plasmashop, unfortunately, I lost the install disks. So I downloaded the game from Good Old Games, and everything was working fine, until I installed offline KI. Now the game crashes again with this error:

Exception type: Access violation
Call stack (14 levels):
0x005D1ADE
0x005B29B6
0x0062B749
0x005B1F01

0x0041304C
0x004BA659
0x004B9437
0x004B6DBE
<end>

I have already re-installed twice and this still happens, is there some reason I cannot use the GOG version of URU CC?

On which operating system?
Also you shouldn't have problems with Plasmashop. Just don't install it in your Uru folder.

I'm running Windows XP home edition 2000, with service pack 3. Is there a way to fix what is happening?

Started a new game, and it worked for a while. I got my KI, then quit out. I then uploaded my age into URU from blender, went back into the same save game, and it started crashing again. And now it won't work even when I make a new player... Whats happening?

The only crash I know of which can be tirggered by the Offline KI is the one caused by having too many pictures in your KI - the offline vault can not cope with that. But since you say it also happens for a new avatar, this can not be the reason. I don't know whether the GoG Uru is different though, never had the chance to try out. Anyone else here using it with the Offline KI?

Maybe it is your age that is causing the crash?

Yeah, I use the GOG version with OfflineKI. Haven't had any issues.

Just did a test, and it is not my age, I installed my age and it worked fine (of course I could not link to it without online KI, but the game worked fine). Then I installed offline KI 3.1, and it crashed... So what does that mean?

well, /when/ does it crash? If it crashes when you link to your Age, then its probably your Age.

If you haven't linked to the age, then, you can't really discount the age as the cause...

It crashes after the last blue loading bar has completed, then occasionally calls a stack error, and a bunch of windows show up saying that there has been a application error. This happens with ULM too, just checked. It could still be my age, because when exporting my age it compresses all of the textures and gets to the end then says "memory error". After I try exporting again, it works, and then my game crashes.
