PyPrp 2.0 and Blender 2.5 issues

Postby Grogyan » Fri Apr 02, 2010 9:56 pm

I'm a bit out from what has been happening here, and a couple of times a couple of people have comment on a comment I made on the MOUL forums.

So i'm sorry if this sounds rough or wrong in anyway.

I'm wondering what exactly is wrong or broken with Blender 2.5, which is inhibiting developemnt of PyPrp 2?
One of the things was modable menus, Blender has these now.
Another was Clarification of some tricks that we (pyprp programmers, not me specifically) needed to know, even though you guys know more about Plasma than Cyan dos, probably.
Lastly I think I remember, again I could be wrong, that you're also waiting for HSTPlasma library to be more complete before doing the GUIs and menus in Blender.

Lontahv has been hard at work on PyPRP2 for the past few months, and it's starting to make good noticeable progress. libHSPlasma is being used as a backend through PyHSPlasma, so we'll be able to support both PotS and MOUL (and in theory, Myst V, Hex Isle, etc.).

Blender 2.5 does have nice menu and panel features, but it's still under heavy development. There is very little documentation, so a lot of time has gone into trying to make the panels work.

One thing that I am curious about, concerns clipboard support, with these GUI panels. Are we likely to be able to call up a panel, of one type or other, for one object and paste a copy of it onto another object?

I certainly hope so, it something that can't always be done in previous versions of Blender; and it's totally mind-boggling. :x

Nice! :)

Thanks for that.

Looks like its coming together :)

@Lontahv
Just a curious question, would you be able to post a screenshot of Blender with one of the new panels opened?

If you look closely, that Plasma Modfiers panel is new.
Here are two other plasma-specific panels:
