Im having a few issues that im hoping is nothing more then operator malfunction and need help.

first Max seemed to install ok at first. I got the plug-ins installed OK although the binkw32.dll was missing from MOULa luckily I had a copy so that worked however Max 7 will not close, I got the cd and tryed to repair it and it worked ok for a while but ended up with the same issue im thinking its just a comparability issue so I ran it under comparability mode for xp and it still will not close with out going into task manager

next Drizzle I keep getting a message that sez "You appear to be running Windows Vista or Windows Seven. Uru has a bug that will require a workaround, see http://dusty.homeunix.net/wiki/Drizzle#Vista_and_above for details." I went threw the first option with no luck have not tried the second one yet. hopefully that will work

and finally Uru CC after going thew several redundant security issues  I got it working with drizzle offline KI ext. and so far its working ok but only time will tell
haven't tried to export much yet but Relativity seems to work

Possible solutions, I could switch to Max 10, I am assuming installing the plug-ins for that is basically cut and dry, as far as Drizzle is concerned with your help I know I can get it working, and Uru ......well I will have to do some more exploring, I haven't gotten to the Uru fun, Uru python, and plasma shop yet but it should be interesting.

unfortunately win 7 seem kinda new and all these programs seem kinda old,.......... im sure its a major player with of all of the issues im experiencing,
not to mention a few extra gray hairs that all this technical stuff is causing me :?

I've run Max7 under Win7 and didn't experience anything like that. Similarly, Uru:CC works fine as well. PlasmaShop is likewise fine. Not sure what the problem with Max is. It occasionally has odd little hiccups, but it usually seems that it's just a generally unstable version of the program. Have you tried looking for old solutions to Max not closing elsewhere? I have noticed that sometimes the process doesn't completely end even after I've closed the application.

Karkadann,

I'm running Max7 under Windows 7 as well. I have the same problem with Max not wanting to quit and then crashing. I believe it's something with the plug-in. If I run Max without the Plasma plug, it shuts down as expected.
I've looked for solutions but have come up dry. So I view it as an inconvenience. Everything saves as it should, it just hangs at shutdown then crashes. I This was not an issue for me with XP.

I'm running windows 7 with 3dsmax 7, I'm not getting this issue either. I had to recently install 3ds Max again because I did an update that broke the use of python files, but, once I reinstalled everything worked again. Do you know if you're using 3ds Max 7 with service pack 1?

I am running service pack 1
As I remember, when I was able to get Max to run with no issues in Windows 7, it was 64bit. When I went back to x86 (thinking it would be more compatible with the plug-in) was when I began to have problems.
I'll try running Win 7 64 and see if the issue follows.

Perhaps it might be useful to specify the version of the plugin you're using as well, in case there are regressions in certain versions.

im using Cyan's plug-ins I did not know others where available for plasma with Max 7.1. or where to find them. If im remember correctly Max 7 was made before win 7, which might explain the issue as a simple none compatibility issue, or it could be my pc configuration. hmm I wonder if an earlier set of video drivers might help because the drivers im using now are the latest, the ones I had with xp are from almost a year ago. any way if its nothing more then an inconvenience and everything else works I'll havta make due for now. until a solution is found. im still kinda hoping its operator malfunction at least that way I know its me and not the hardware and software.

I think I've found a solution for my problem. Hopefully, it will work for you, Karkadann.
After going back to Win7 64 bit, I tried other compatibility setting and it seems that using "Windows NT server service pack 5" caused the issue to cease and the program closes with no hang.
Please let me know if this works for you :)
